The big leak he did in BW was together with another guy who has been fired since then. And so far, in gen 6, he has shown nothing. All he did was confirm Newtwo as a new form, which was basically a 50/50 guess at the time already.

Imo, we should take this as the most likely to happen scenario, but thinking it's all 100% confirmed just because he posted a picture of some pokémon with type names on top of them? That's pretty stupid too.

Difference is, we got more info now.

Many Fairy folk on /vp/ thought that he was fired after the BW stuff but according to Serebii that was his partner-in-crime. And according to Hiro he would have gotten into huge trouble revealing it's type that early so he fucked up and made an offhand flying comment that he never strongly backed just so that people would back off.

Jigglypuff and Skitty (Snubbull is the C Sith (dog fairy) Skitty is the Cait Sith (cat fairy) should be included as well (and maybe Vulpix)
I think Togepi should probably just be pure Fairy
I feel Kirlia should be pure Psychic
I disagree with Swablu and Altaria (although I do want a Fairy-Dragon)
Jirachi is supposed to be a wish granting meteorite, so it should be Steel/Fairy instead of Psychic/Fairy
Whimsicott should also be Grass/Fairy as one of the mischievous fairies (it likes to sneak into houses and cause pranks)
I also think Snorunt and Glailie should be Ice/Fairy (but Froslass stays Ice/Ghost)

Type Effectiveness
Super effective against: Ghost, Psychic and Dark (maybe Fighting) (It's magic, I ain't gotta explain shit)
Not very effective against: Dragon, Fairy (since they're both mythical creatures), Normal (Normal types don't believe in magic so it doesn't work on them) and Ice (no justification, really, Ice just needs to be resistant to SOMETHING)
Doesn't affect: Grass (Fairies are associated with woods so they can't use their powers to destroy them. Mostly because Grass has SO MANY WEAKNESSES I feel giving them an immunity might help balance it out)
Weak to: Poison (Tinkerbell drank the poison and nearly died, and so Poison can be strong against something), Steel (Iron is supposed to be strong against fairies in folklore, and it'd be strong against something Fighting and Rock isn't)
Resistant to: Ghost, Dark, Fairy and Dragon

Thoughts?

That was one pokemon back when the series was first getting started. Pikachu/Clefairy/all the others people keep saying are going to get retconned have been their respective types for 5 gens now. Not quite as easy to overlook.

How do you shoot anything of fairy.

Literally none of the moves in the first reply except Relic Song are offensive. And that's exclusive to one Pokemon.

Actually the entire type chart got reworked in Gen 2.
Bug used to be super effective on poison and vice versa and a bunch of changes like that.

How do you explain butterfree not being weak to poison anymore?

Fridge, Cut, Fan, Heat, and Wash Rotom were all ghost/electric in Gen 4.
They switched to Electric/Ice, Electric/Grass, etc in Gen 5.

You can't spinblock with Rotom wash anymore. It was a pretty big deal.

Clefairy has been normal for 5 gens. It has been weak to fighting and good against nothing for 5 gens. It's a normal type. There's nothing particularly special about it that could make it change suddenly. Same for the others

Rotom-wash is still a pokemon on its own.
It has its separate data slot in the game, its own typing(now), its own moves, its own variables for breeding and everything

It's no different than Eevee to Vapoteon except you can change back in Rotom's case.

It's because types haven't been changed basically since the first 2 gens, and because it's something that changes the whole essence of the pokémon and everything about it in-game.

It's not really about changing the types of a few pokémon, but rather about completely changing entire generations of pokémon just for the sake of adding one more type when there's really no need for it as there's plenty of other things they could still change.

I agree completely with this though. I think Fairy is a great type, it's a good thing to happen to Pokemon - not a bad one. They are revisiting what they touched upon early on in Gen I and II, the clefairy case was never solved and this is the chance to find out more about Pokemon.
