How is Genosect doing on the competitive scene? Being the only Bug Legendary with 120 in both attack stats and Download plus Bug Buzz would make the Psychics and Darks of the Uber tier pretty nervous, at least, along with only being weak to Fire.

His weird 99 Speed probably keeps him from being as big a threat as he could be, though, I'd wager. And Techno Drive from what I've heard is pretty useless except for Douse Drive.

It doesn't need Techno Blast, with a Choice Scarf, U-turn and three special attacks, it is able to obliterate threats with proper prediction and gain momentum for your team. Besides, it's got an incredibly good typing, that allows a lot of switching in and out.

Genesect is a pokemon that, on paper, looked pretty awful to me.
But then I used it and battled it and realized it's a monster. It can't really sweep in Ubes like it did in OU, but it's still an incredibly useful poke.

Rock polish is great, but only because its easy to set up because you have to assume genesect is scarfed.

Mispredict though and you'll be one shotted rock polishing.

My set is Naive with U-Turn, Flamethower, Ice Beam and Rock Polish, @ Leftovers/Expert Belt (depends on mood, both saved my ass more than once)
I find myself not using RP that often, because I often scout with it or come in after taking enemy scarfer

How does Download work again? The attack stat opposite the higher defense stat is raised, like Defense is higher Special Attack is raised? What happens if the defensive stats are equal?

Does anybody know how ExtremeSpeed might effect his role? I would imagine it would spring up more physical based sets centered around U-turn and ES, but Special + U-turn still seems like it would be more viable when he only has X-Scissor, Zen Headbutt, Shadow Claw, Flame Charge, and those other shitty moves every Pokemon get.

I was suggesting ditching U-turn because rock polishsect is meant to be a sweeper and you need the three different moves. If you're ditching rock polish consider scarfsect.

Techno Blast is a tremendously shitty attack that requires you to give up using an actual item. It's weaker than Surf, T-Bolt, Ice Beam, and Flamethrower, and means that you basically don't get to use an item. Seriously what were they thinking?

HP Water means you can take an item that actually makes all of your attacks stronger like a Life Orb.

Bug buzz + icefire in the sun is definitely the way to go. Just be aware you'll need a larger amount of prior damage kyogre to beat him. That or grass knot Deoxys~A

Yes. It ultimately comes down to how important it is to defeat water types. Sunsect is more powerful though.

Mostly the fact that thunderbolt doesn't really hit anything outside of some water types. Fire also beats other genesect and is his strongest attack against dialga who is a great defensive pokemon in ubers. Its also amazing for steel types in general like ferrothorn, forretress and metagross.

Steel types are extremely important in ubers. They're used all the time for defence. Hell even tyranitar is used and chansey is Commonplace.

Plus Download makes it pretty threatening I think. Switch in on something with low defense you can outspeed and kill with Flame Charge, sweep with +1 speed and attack. U-turn if threatened. Viable, but has less coverage.
