Hey /vp/, so I'm not saying it's real (I'm choosing to not really believe until it's official). But if it is, what do you expect from a Fairy type???, strengths, weaknesses, tier. What Pokémon or moves should be retconned, etc...

I'd agree with the assumption on strong against Dark types, normal damage against Ghost types (sorry Sableye/Spiritomb).

I think Fairy type would be completely pointless if it didn't at least kill the Ghost/Dark immunity typing, I mean balancing is a huge part of adding another type and right now besides Ghost/Dark, the type chart is fairly balanced.

Ghost/Dark is not broken to the slighest, altough it's true they have 3 immunitys, they also only have 1 resistance (Poison)

This is not as big a deal as it seems on paper.

Now you want to talk BROKEN, wait for the steel/ghost type with levitate
>1 (2x) weakness
>4 immunities (including fighting AND ground)
>8 resistances
It will troll the metagame so fucking hard. Especially since it will be able to spinblock, cannot be poisoned, is immune to spikes, resists SR... Oh god, I will laugh so hard.

Because a bunch of Pokédex entries that say it has some weird energy that soothes and calms.
It's pretty flimsy, I know, but if we cared about flimsiness then we wouldn't be talking about the fairy type.

I never understood Jirachi's steel type in the first place, so I think psychic/fairy would be a better retcon than steel/fairy. Unless there's a reason it's steel that I just never got.

I'm the one who has made the original FAIRY thingy, WITH NO SNUBULL/GRANBULL.

Basically my vision for the fairy type would be something like the Yu-Gi-Oh "Fairy" cards. Not just pink, cute fairies, but other mystical creatures too.

No, if anything they should be not very effective to steel if they're going to make any intuitive sense. Almost everywhere fairies are weak against cold iron, which could be merged together with steel in Pokemon.

If anything they'd counter each other, with Fairy possibly being weak to Steel, Fairies are all about nature and magic, steel is not natural and represents civilization, haven't you ever seen Ferngully??? Steel & Poison would be super effective or at least resistant to a possible Fairy type

To be honest the more I think about a Fairy type, to more I might be ok with a new type. At first I was very resistant (mostly because of retcon) but tbh, there are so many Pokémon and moves out there that could/should be a different type that Fairy would fit in. Maybe besides a few key Pokémon and a couple moves, it'd be no different than Gyarados not being Dragon or Glalie not being a Dark type. Also I think the name would stay Fairy in English, Magic is too generalized and could cause religious backfire and Light type is too obvious, also there's already a Fairy egg group.
