Drinking game Nuzlocke.
Take a drink after gyms, 1 for first visit to a route.
2 for new pokemon and 4 if you kill it.
2 when a pokemon dies, 3 when they die in a gym battle.
Down the rest of the bottle when you beat the elite 4. Pour out the rest of the bottle if you fail.

Don't worry, the Magikarp run gets less and less tedious as it goes. The E4 and other important battles are easy with a bit of preparing ahead and bringing in X Attacks.

Pokemon Tower will suck, though.

In any case, I did a Caterpie solo in Leaf Green once, and you'd be surprised how fast Gastly drops to Struggle in gen 3.

So far it looks like my best strategy is to deplete the PP of Slash so I can spam Struggle+Potion in the fight against May.

Fuck, I just noticed. And I did do a Magikarp only run in FR.

An R/S run shouldn't really be much different, though. The whole thing isn't that hard, it's just tedious as fuck.

The issue is getting there. I'm not sure there's enough money in the game to Struggle/Potion spam my way to level 15. I'll give it my best shot, though.

OP, try nuzlocking 'Perfect Platinum hack' with no grinding. Prepare for assrape from Scythers in Etherna Forest. Or you could try playing Moemon Forever v3 - it's the hardest version of Moemon I know. Gym battles are almost impossible without grinding or some decent strategy.

It'd be great if you'd stream it. I was streaming PP Nuzlocke several times but never succeed. The only times I menaged to go through Forest were when I was lucky enough to get Lairon or other steel-tough pokemon in Oreburgh mines. I was playing by 'no grinding' and 'no extra pokemons in boxes' rules btw.

Monochromatic run: play through only using pokemon of a specific color as dictated by the pokedex. If a pokemon of your dedicated color evolves from one of another dex color you must obtain the evolved form without letting the dex info from the unevolved pokemon into your dex. So if you're doing say, a purple run, you could use a Meinshao, but you wouldn't be able to even catch a Meinfoo. Monochromatic really opens you up to new friends you never thought you would make, especially when collecting compatible HM users. Slaves are allowed only if no pokemon of your color are capable of learning the necessary HMs at your current place and are needed to progress. They are not allowed to battle and as such should be discarded as soon as pokemon of you dedicated color capable of learning the HM moves are realistically obtainable.

Grinding a bit. I notice that Ralt is great for killing since it only knows Growl. Zigzagoon and Wurple are also great if they spam their status moves enough.

When I need to get rid of all my Splash PP, though, it has to be Seedot, who only knows Harden and Bide.
