Since we're talking about the Pokemon anime anyway, I wanna ask... I haven't watched Pokemon regularly since Ash got his Gligar (I watched a few of the early Unova episodes, and the Elesa gym battle one, somewhat, and some others in Sinnoh). I want to continue watching it this weekend since the Plasma arc is coming up and I have a thiNg for N. Will I be confused?

the best eps were the introduction ep and the braivary rescue ep
also, charizard ep was nice for nostalgia
but mainly, it was really overhyped

But yeah, the finalle is a mess. Don't get your hopes up, this is the Pokemon anime we're talking about, but it can be enjoyable to see characters like N and Colress outside of the gameverse.

This has been going for years. Dragon Ball Z comes to mind, where the guys who couldn't fight anymore stand back and went all "OOOH SO FAST" at their attacks.

And it's not only anime. It's a very basic trope, to have a character to stand for the reader/watcher - they usually are in charge of asking for information too, that way the author has the chance to infodump on you.
