Let me tell you a story about how I almost got swept by Burgh
and how a might Bidoof surprised me and saved the day.

so there I was, facing down Masquerain, Scyther, and Vespiquen. I had lost 3 pokemon, and it looked like I was about to get swept up like old dirt on a clean floor.

Suddenly, Jimmy busts in the room and goes "Back the fuck up guys, I got this"

with near perfect Moody Boosts, and a mach 10 Rollout, (and using 8 potions to out-stall the 8 pp of Giga Drain)

JIMMY THE FUCKING BIDOOFAREL SWEEPS THE REST OF BURGH WITH THE LAST 3 ROLLOUTS

Oh god. If only he wasnt a bibarel I swear to god I would use him forever. Bro Badge aquired, jimmy.

Doing my first run EVER right now in HG. I had a pretty solid team and just beat Buggsy. I was thinking to myself that this first run was going to be easy.

Then my rival stops me before Illex forst (no problem right?) but HOLY SHIT, REFLECT + SYNTHESIS BAYLEEF.

Whips out Chompy my Totodile, Sneakyrox my Geodude, and Ootachi my Sentret.

My new bro, Vegtabul the Belsprout barely got me out of there alive by spamming wrap+sleep powder thanks to his x4 resistance to razor leaf, and rival's Zubat missed suspersonic 10 times in a row. But damn that was close. Going to hatch my Togepi egg now and do some grinding in the Union Cave because all are dead except my Vegtabul.

Like the goal is to use strategy to keep your pokemon from fainting, right? But I'm on my first locke run and I'm just grinding the absolute fucking shit out of them so they're in less danger.

It's up to you.

You can set limits on grinding yourself to increase the challenge if you'd like, but the minimum requirements of a nuzlocke don't say anything about grinding.

Bleh. the randomizer doesn't have the option I want. I'd much prefer having it allow two stage pokemon to be chosen as well for the starters. Not "all or pretty much just starters and psuedolegendaries"

Maybe I'll just play a hack instead. The tier list doesn't mention it... Are the HG/SS hacks fun for nuzlocking?

I gotta admit, I've had quite a lot of casualties already, but I'm a little more careful now. Kenshiro/Sawk turned out to be a beast and has saved my ass a few times by now.

If you use the shiny clause you can keep it, but not use it, if you use it you broke the rules and have to stop your Nuzlocke.

The way I see it, there are 3 things you can do:
Shiny clause - You can catch a shiny and use it even if it isn't your first encounter, but must box it/trade it/release it if it faints
Shiny clause - You can catch a shiny even if it isn't your first encounter, but must immediately trade it to your main non-Nuzlocke game
No shiny clause - Not your first encounter? Release it.

Ultimately it's up to you which one to use.

Played quite a bit today, caught a pimpin Goldeen, but not too thrilled about catching a Miltank and a Tentacruel, bah I hate it when I can't let my pokémon evolve on my own.
All the other pokémon i met were doubles, and a Natu that teleported out :'(
I feel like my team is very generic atm, hoping for some interesting new pokémon in the future.
At least I'm lucky in that I can use all my HM's, after wiping and being left with only 4 left I was kinda worried about that.

My Nuzlocke is going to be pretty normal except for some minor details such as:

1.) Can't catch duplicates.
2.) No healing items like Potions, Full Restores, etc.
3.) Battle Style is on Set.

Well, I just lost my Blue nuzlocke the final battle.

I got too impatient to grind all my pokemon to proper levels and paid for it.

I lost my Magneton and Machoke to Lorelei's Lapras.
I was able to defeat Bruno with my Blastoise and Kadabra, and Agatha with my Kadabra as well.
Lance's dragons fell to my Kabutop's ice beam and I was ready for the final fight.

Kabutops took out my rival's Pidgeot, but his Alakazam killed my Blastoise.
The rest of my crew fell to his Gyarados without anything left to properly deal with it.

I'm sad that my first nuzlocke ended this way, but I'm looking forward to trying another game.

I was a fool. We defeated her first pokemon no worries but then Whitney pulled out Miltank. George was the first to fall his 'super effective' Rock Smash barely making a dent as Miltank stomped him into rubble. Then Snoozie the Drowzee tries to hypnotise the beast into submission but can't withstand the might of its ever increasing Roll-Outs.

Gilly, my beautiful Croconaw had just evolved from Totodile. She was my first. Her death hurt the most as we almost had It before the foul creature drank its own putrid juices and restored itself to new. Then the roll-outs came again and Gilly could not withstand anymore. I'll never forget you, my best and first friend.

Beth the Flaafy lasted the longest as she paralyzed the beast but the Potions I fed her to keep her alive dwindled as the beats own juices did not.

I watched as Gary the Gastly was dumbfounded as these physical stomps squashes his wispy figure into the ground. It's Gary I worried about the most, more than any. For, what happens to a ghost when he dies? I am so sorry Gary.

Stefon my Spinarak, my first catch. My cute little friend. You held your own, you leeched life to stay alive and performed admirably until this foul beast stripped you of your dignity and used her wily ways to ensnare you and then squash you under her own grotesque weight.

I will never forget you, my friends. I will avenge you. That bitch Whitney and her monster cow will fall between us. I have gotten your allies from the Daycare. Todd the Togepi and Olive the Oddish are raging to avenge you, as am I.

Well /vp/, we did it.

Zappo singlehandedly raped Lorelei with 4 Thunderbolts, and Magnus Fire Punch KO'd her Jynx.

After that I thought the E4 was going to be a breeze. Stoola had just Giga Drain OHKO'd Bruno's Onix until he sent out the murderer. Hitmonchan.

I was aware of its Rock Tomb from my last playthrough, so I played it safe with a Fly. Of course, I was faster so I dealt the hit, but there stood that muggy cunt with 2 HP. What comes next? Another Rock Tomb attempt? No. Fucking Counter. And there went my bro from the beginning, Twit the Pidgeot. RIP level 2 - 58. You fought the good fight ;___;7

The rest of the Bruno battle was Amy + 6 Full Restores to with stand Cross Chop from a 2x Bulk Up'd Machamp.

Agatha was lol earthquake and bite.

Lance was lol ice beam

And then came Gary. The level 63 Charizard. Amy down by 5 levels had one job, Rock Slide and take a Fire Blast. Charizard hit first and the Fire Blast left me with 3 HP, and Rock Slide leaving him in low orange. So I took the risk...
And it missed. His second Fire Blast missed. The rest of his Pokemon were puss easy. And thus ends my Leafgreen run.

I just voltorb flipped to hell and back and managed to score a Dratini. I went to the magic man tent and named her Darla.

Olive the Oddish and Darla are in the Daycare now. I'm just riding around aimlessly with Todd the Togepi and our new borrowed friend Kenya the Spearow. She just had mail to deliver. I won't use her in any battles. She's not mine and I don't think I could live with myself if I lost another man's Pokemon.

Wow just had the most amazingly frustrating fight with a wild pokémon ever ^^
I was at Lake of Rage, and since I didn't want another water pokémon I desided to headbutt the trees in hope of getting something cool there.
So out falls this Exeggcute, I was happy as fuck to have a replacement for my Hypno Mesmer (RIP), so I hit it a couple of times and throw my pokeballs.
That bugger just wouldn't get caught, and worst of all it just kept healing up with leach seed!
It kept plowing through my team using protect and hypnosis pissing me off even further, eventually making me use potions on the weaker ones so I could keep trying to damage it, eventually on my VERY LAST ball, I caught it! :D

Oh hey guys. I felt like i should let you know that I will no longer be streaming on livestream due to their increasing pace towards a twitch like system of account signing in. So i figure i might as well go to twitch when there are more viewers there anyway.

Also it won't be just me. The entire stream group now shares one channel. So that is where my nuzlocke runs will be from now on. And we won't just be streaming pokemon. all types of games from all different genres. But the pokemon will still be a huge focus.

So i probably won't be posting my link anymore. Because you'll now if i'm streaming, or beastica, or trainer blue. We will all be on that one channel

We aren't doing a pokemon run right now (it's paper mario) But i thought i would let you all know for future reference.

It's better against Grimsley than Shauntel, since Bug types do more damage against Dark while it's not very effective on Ghost. Against both Grimsley and Caitlin, though, Durant will serve you well.

We did it. It's over. The Final Round has been completed.

One Mistake.. clicking "Keep Battling" while Dioji was locked into Outrage, when Iris dropped an Aggron on her head. I lost 4 pokemon to Iris alone.

The final two to remain standing after the dust cleared, Tentomon the Stall Wizard, and Melodie, the Survivor.

Here is a quick update. Pan has turned out to be great. I caught a both Riza and Monty pretty much back to back. Just have to grind them up a bit before I challenge the gym leader. I hope we all make it through!

I go into challenge Burgh and oh boy it was painful. Riza managed to take it's Sealio to half health before it U-Turns away into a Growlith, Riza managed to hit it once before being knocked down and out.

Then Pan comes out. The Sceptile manages to Petal Dance and take out both the Growlith and the Sealio. Then Burgh's Excadrill comes out. Dealing with a little confusion and his Excadrill charging the whole time. FInally the Excadrill uses Grasswhistle and puts Pan to sleep.

Quickly recalling my Sceptile I send out Monty the Wartortle. Spamming Ice Beam while the Excadrill just decides to charge some more. Suddenly Plasma Bolt out of no where takes out my poor Monty.

With Pan still asleep I have only Pikaboo to send out. Since that Excadrill has only been boosting it's sp defense my true bro Pikaboo one shots it with Shadow Claw.

We made it out of this gym battle better but with half of my team missing. Still this is progress.

Currently at Viridian City, had a chance to catch a fucking KINGDRA (level 3) from route 1, but Mittens the granbull (level 7) decided to OHKO him with a critical hit tackle.

Just arrived to Viridian Forest.
No casualities so far.
Current team:

Mittens the Granbull Lv.10, Speed Boost ability, Gentle nature. Wrecks up everything with STAB Tackle.

Tallulah the Cacnea Lv.10, Drought ability, Hardy nature. Quite efficient fella, murdered rival's Wailord with absorb. Caught her on route 22 (west from viridian city).

CinderBlox the Wartortle Lv. 8, Pick Up ability, Impish nature. He will be great team member, that ability will become handy in long run. Caught him on route 2.

Wallace the Seadra, Lv.4, Adamant nature, Swift Swim ability. Not sure if he'll be staying on my team, CinderBlox is simply better than him and I don't need two water types. If he proves himself worthy I might reconsider keeping him. Caught this dude from Viridian forest.

Know what levels the gymleaders pokémon are. And keep your team around that level. I go for a maximum of three levels above the gymleaders strongest pokémon.

And grind, grind a lot. Battle every trainer.

I get the whole grinding thing, but as you get progressively later in the game and the wild vs trainer gap increases to roughly 20 levels it starts to take upwards of an hour to gain a single level depending on which Pokemon you use. I ended up losing to Blue because his entire team was on average 3 levels above mine. Is it easier if I use fewer Pokemon and spread out the experience less?

Just got finished with Jasmine, was expecting a hard fight, I don't exactly have a good team for her.
So I went in with Vesper my Arbok, and easily cleared her two Magnemite.
Then Steelix gets sent in and hits hard with an Iron tail, taking my Vesper down to 30% with a single blow!
Since Fearow or Crobat aren't exactly good matches for that behemoth, I decide Kodama my recently evolved Exeggutor could give her just as hard a time she gave me!
And she sure did, Leading with Sleep Powder, and planting a Leech Seed she slowly drains down Steelix, and after 2 hyper potions from Jasmine, and 2 more successful Sleep Powder attacks, Kodama dragged that Steelix down just like she dragged me down back in Lake of Rage! What a champ <3

I already lost on my randomized ability and pokemon HG nuzlock. I started with my Houndor and was making my way back to the lab after picking up the egg from Mr. Pokemon. I challenge my rival with my level 8 Houndor and he has a level 5 Chikorita. I figure it will be an easy fight since Houndor knows Ember. My face when the randomized ability on his Chikorita was Flash Fire.

That isn't always the case, last time I used xsplit, there was some memory leak issue; I think it got up to 1.5GB at one point.

I use OBS, which is even more power hungry than the others.

You need some better metaphors. I've never had trouble with any Elite 4 before, even with hilariously underleveled awful pokemon. I beat Yellow with a level 45 Pidgeot when I was nine, for crying out loud.

Gen V is just more difficult than the other generations. Opposing teams are built far better. I didn't know this going in.

I got the game at launch. This is my first playthrough. Pokemon stopped being fun after I had invested 600 hours in Gen III across six games and come so very close to completing my Pokedex - including legit event pokemon - and all my games got stolen. I bought Emerald again but the magic was gone and I gave it to a friend. I bought Pearl and beat it, but it was a chore. I bought Platinum and only got my sixth badge. I bought SoulSilver and never beat Karen. I bought White and decided to Nuzlocke, hoping I would have fun again.

I don't think I'm cut out for this series anymore.

Choose one:

The problem is that you're not filtering the 150%. If you aren't using filters, your only option is 1x, 2x, etc.

fuck i knew that my starter could'nt go far because of its def BST ! but a rock tomb of a turtwig 7level below it OHKO it... you were frail, but a good bro.
And the two recruits were a fire finneon and a ground ducklett (lol swana a 150bst attack and balanced others stat, fuck ciritical)
