It's an opinion thing, Fairy or Light, doesn't really matter in the end anyhow. It's not as much of a difference as Evil and Dark that's for sure.

You only really need to care about IVs in three situations anyway

31 for max speed, because if you go second and you're frail, you're as good as dead.
0 for min speed to abuse gyro ball and trick room
And Specific HP IVs to reach specific numbers for substitute and stealth rocks damage.

It's not like your 520 +2 Garchomp will miss many OHKOs with only 510 +2 Attack

I don't see how Fairy and Light are the same thing. There's evil fairies too.

All in all, I think Dark and Light are like, perfect polar opposites. Since there's a Dark type, why not a Light type? They can even be super effective against each other.

I've been in plenty of situations where if I didn't have those extra 5 special defense or defense IVs, I would have lost the entire game. IVs matter in every stat except the attack stat that the Pokemon isn't using if it's a physical/special sweeper.

IVs are just an obnoxious mechanic in general that flies in the face of the spirit of companionship the game tries so hard to foster. You have pokemon that are objectively and irreversibly inferior for no fucking reason.

But I'm sure some NUMBERS BEING DIFFERENT makes for a much more organic experience :D!! At least you can fix it by grinding for a BETTER FRIEND to and whoring your friend out at a ranch until its vaginal canals are a mass-transit system competing with Goldenrod so that you can abandon it for one of its offspring. That's what FRIENDSHIP AND ADVENTURE is all about isn't it?

They just need to fucking go. Natures do the job much more fairly and Hidden Power can be its own variable. You'd scream and kick because it's change and but it would cause literally no problems and you'd get on with your life of pretending they don't exist pretty easily I imagine.

If they want to have the IV's do something have them determine how many EV's you get or how fast you level up. So high IV pokemon have an advantage in-game but that can be overcome with all that friendship and hard work bullshit they love.

I do like the individuality aspect, but as you mention, it's flawed. I'd think if they only existed as a sort of "secondary nature", it would work much better. like, if the mon's description said " likes to run", it'd have a preset IV spread that was speed inclined.

Your Choice Scarfed Salamence will lose 100% of the time to any opponent's Choice Scarfed Salamence if they have the same EV spread and both use Outrage because you only managed to breed 30 speed IVs on your Jolly Nature instead of 31.

You literally cannot win and are at a disadvantage to anyone of equal skill/prediction level.

I personally have no qualms with pokegenning, since everyone does it anyway, but it's a moral thing for a lot of people. I was the same way back when the GTS exploit wasn't so widespread and PokeSAV was our main thing. It's just sort of annoying that you're expected to download this program and all this other stuff when there are mechanics in the game which are -supposed- to be making this process not terrible built in.

Not necessarily. In the current games, Hidden Power doesn't have a separate variable in the data; every time the game needs to know the type and power, it calculates them from the IVs. This is why it's impossible to hack a Pokémon with a Hidden Power that doesn't match its IVs. This can easily be solved by adding Hidden Power as a separate "stat" so to speak, and calculate it based on which generation the Pokémon came from.

This already happens with abilities in the gen 3-4 transfer; a gen 3 Cleffa with ability slot 2 will keep Cute Charm when transferred to gen 4 (even though its second ability is now Magic Guard) because the ability variable is separate from the PID (it does change when evolved in gen 4, but obviously Hidden Power wouldn't be coded that way).
