Think we'll get a Pal-Park feature in X/Y that only works with installed versions of the games?

Allowing you to obtain your DS Pokemon on X/Y or maybe even letting you trade between both versions of the games if you have one/both installed?

Something about wishing Pokegen or an equivilent won't work on Gen 6, and trading between gens won't be possible, so you can have a gen without cheating to get perfect mons. Completely ludicrous, but it is posted a lot (probably by a few samefags).

Smogonfags at the very least can understand IVs enough not to care about them. They're autistic enough to completely ignore them via simulators.

Karenfags think they're bullshit and ruins everything they touch because they have no idea how IVs work and breeding for IVs instead of simply using anything you catch in the wild is absolute heresy.

Anybody with a brain should want to get rid of IVs. If we only had to worry about natures and EVs, it would be actually easy to put together competitive teams. IV breeding can take hours.

Because a new type of any kind would require a rework of the IV system and/or Hidden Power to accommodate a new type when calculating Hidden Power's type and power. The differing IV system between Gen 2 and 3 is the reason why we couldn't transfer between the two, so if something like that happened here, we wouldn't be able to transfer from Gen 5 onwards.

No, it was the IV system mainly. Hardware restrictions only affected trading back and forth.

We won't be able to migrate our Gen V pokemon to Gen VI because of the new type. A new type means the whole IV system for determining Hidden Power's type and power will have to be completely overhauled.

Only an idiot would believe that.

A pokemon's typing is not determined by the conents of it's .pkm file. Same goes for Hidden Power's type.

Even if there was some kind of major difference between the pokemon's file in Gen5 and Gen6, it would be TRIVIAL to fix it.

If GF decides to make people unable to transfer pokemon from Gen5 to Gen6, it will only be because THEY desired it, not because of factors outside of their control or arbitrary restrictions.

As of Gen V a pokemon's IVs and nature are no longer determined by its PID. That wasn't true in Gen IV but the mons transferred fine.

It would be difficult if introducing a new type would require an overhaul of the IV system. Difficult enough that Game Freak probably wouldn't do it.

That said, the IV system has no effect on types aside from Hidden Power, and reprogramming Hidden Power would be easy.

The only reason I could see why they would use Hidden Power as an excuse is to placate people who don't want their Pokemon's Hidden Power type to change when transferring generations (there is a work-around to this, even, but let's ignore that for a second). This is a stupid reason and I think more people would be upset about no transfers than people upset about their HP type changing.

Nobody would give a shit about HP's type changing, IMO, but it's not like you couldn't do what they've done with EVERYTHING ELSE and stop calculating it with IVs. Time was gender was calculated with IVs too, and that stopped. IVs are now completely distinct from PID, and the only thing they're used to calculate besides stats is Hidden Power. It would take what, 4 bits (2 for type now that there's 17, 2 for BP) to store that, and you could just randomly generate it for pokemon caught in Gen VI and fix it using the old IV math for transfers from Gen V.

I guess if they wanted to keep the 30-70 power range, not being able to IV breed for a decent power could make the random generation frustrating to some people. Or they could just make it always 70, and upset Technician users.

Tech hidden power is no big loss. Making it work (using BP59) nerfs your SpAtk to the point where it's only JUUUST more powerful than BP70, IIRC.
