Let me explain why the Pokedex is bullshit:
>Charmander's tail going out = death
It gets wet all the time and never goes out anyway. This is only an assumption on the 10 year old protagonist.
>Shedinja's hole steals spirits
Except the protagonist, who is 10 years old, doesn't lose their spirit (assuming they have one) when using them. It's all superstition.
>Magcargo's body reaches temperatures hotter than the sun
It's just a 10 year old kid's description of "It's very hot". They just pulled the number out of their ass.
>Driftloon/Hypno kidnaps kids
The 10 year old protagonist probably had a traumatic experience with said Pokemon, and therefore is quick to assume.
>Pidgeot flies at Mach 2
Again, more buzzwords from a 10 year old. Pidgeot isn't even that fast.
You see a pattern here? The Pokedex was given to a 10 year old kid to record and study Pokemon by a senile old professor (Yes, I'm referring to all of them). The 10 year old kid - I repeat: THE 10 YEAR OLD KID - is the one making the entries. What do they know about the world around them, considering they probably haven't traveled any further than their own hometown in their life thanks to the Pokemon in the tall grass (Professor Oak even stops you because of it)? Considering that you get the Pokedex entry as soon as you capture a Pokemon, the protagonist hasn't had enough time to actually study it (or perhaps even understand the concept of 'study'). Therefore, they throw their own bullshit in their to appease their dumbass professors who'll believe anything.
The Pokedex in the anime is slightly better. Slightly. It's still full of bullshit or irrelevant (and even subjective) facts. It tells us what we already know. Common sense crap. Something you could probably figure out just by looking at it for 5 seconds in the wild. However, the info is most likely not computed by a dumbass 10 year old but instead by their only slightly more intelligent professors.
tl;dr: Pokedex is inaccurate. Don't listen to it.
