So, CAP made a thing which upon first glance looks like it has no bloated movepool/stats/abilities, which is an absolute miracle considering CAP's history.

I wanted the Pineapple to win before since it would make a great counterpart to Exeggutor, but I liked the one that won a lot too. Didn't like the concept art much, but really liked the concept. The sprite luckily turned out great.

In Smogon's defense, the CAPs need to fill a niche in the OU metagame, which is already full of pokemon with massive stats and bloated movepools that GF made.

Aurumoth was a fucking trainwreck, though.

I honestly feel that there's no soul in smogon's CAP stuff. Every one of them is just "the best of their kind" and dont seem like they're made for fun, but for a decent design to have maxed out stats and be the greatest competitive 'mon ever.

It's not risky because the guy that was in charge of it (bugmaniacbob) decided to divert the project into making the ultimate bug type and decided to shit on anything that went against that vision. We decided to change up the topic leader process after that.

i think being conservative after aurumoth being completely ridiculous was a good idea. its big offensive coverage is limited to grass/dark/electric (and iron tail but nobody uses iron tail) and it has a good amount of support moves without being silly.

or what about that Bulk Up Shed Skin Ghost/Fighting with higher stats than Scrafty?

Most of those 'mons are bullshit tier
And the only one that could have being decent gets shafted because being Ice/Bug isnt enough, better give him 64 in defenses

Design made no fucking sense at all and looked awful. So many good concepts and themes they could have gone with there, but no, they go with the generic scalie-bait lizard with edgy-cool armor and cannon hands.

It is balanced, actually. It has absolute shit for STAB moves (best is Hammer Arm or Superpower).
