I understand. There aren't many pikamons available early on in gen 2 that are worth the awesomeness bar the starters.

Ampharos is cool, but the larvitar line, Houndoom and Scarmory ended up being my bros. And this was Silver version - looong before smogon came and tiering/ruining fucking everything.

Gen 3 I'm surprised though. Pretty much everything you start with ends up becoming useful in some way. Pic related - my bros. Welcometoedgytown.jpg

seriously recover/toxic/surf/mirror coat have saved my ass in the frontier

also rest/sleep talk/surf/ice beam is nice because of marvel scale, but you have to use the ST move tutor

Agreed. Gen 3 had a ton of little pokes you could get early on that could turn into monstrous motherfuckers.

In regards to the umbreon, can anyone remember how fucking awesome it was as a kid to find out the two new types were Steel and Dark? Me and all of my friends flipped our shit. For me dark and steel types still hold a kind of reverence and coolness about them.
