A lot know Take Down and Double Edge. Then you've got escaping moves, other self-KO moves like Perish Song, weather conditions... the only real defense against self-destructive/escaping shinies is a Master Ball.

Between Damp Jellicent and Suction Cups Octillery you should be able to catch any shiny mons.

Nope, there definitely are. It's a level-up move for several Pokemon that you see in the wild at the right level for that.

The only thing that learns Perish Song before level 45 is Lapras.
Jellicent can Taunt it.
Damp Jellicent @ Taunt/Rain Dance along with Suction Cups Octillery can cover everything you encounter.

Seems a lot more efficient to carry a Master Ball with you than to have two slots on your team taken up specifically for this purpose.
