i want to use a Noctowl in my next soulsilver run, is that a good idea? ive never used noctowl before,
movesets are greatly apreciated

He learns a lot of psychic type moves despite not being a psychic type. Which is stupid, I think.

In a last-ditch effort to get this back on-track, I'd say give it special attacks if you are dead set on using it. Air Slash for STAB, Extrasensory/Psychic. Not sure what else it can learn.

Noctowl is a fairly solid Special wall. Don't expect it to be a rape train though because its attacking stats are crappy. I'd use it for utility more than an attacker. Hypnosis, Reflect, Light Screen, Toxic are all good options. Air Slash for decent damage and Psychic to deal with pesky Poison/Fighting types. It can't take a physical hit all that well without Reflect, though. You also have Roost for recovery. Honestly though it works best as a Toxic staller or a Dual Screen support which is hard as hell to train. Will do you good against gym leaders, though.

Hypnosis/Reflect/Air Slash/Roost.

Boom. All level up moves, provides major team support, and Air Slash for most cost effective [power, pp, secondary effect] STAB to hit things with and possibly flinch.

You don't get Roost until lvl 5X, so you can easily substitute in another move as a freebie until then. Confusion>Extrasensory, TMs, all do fine, as long as it doesn't use its physical Attack.

Came in to say this basically. His offensive capabilities suck. His best outright attack is Night Shade if you don't mind breeding one to get it.

Reflect is good to support his team and shores up his shitty physical defense, Toxic is good, Roost is great. Don't think you'll want to use Whirlwind, or Magic Coat for the single player campaign, but they're still good moves that he learns.

That aside, Noctowl has been a bro of mine in both gens' Johto games. You don't even need that much strategy like the other anon said, let him Psychic his way away.
