I have Fossil Fighters Champions. The story is laughable but the battle system is actually pretty good.

The story reeks of excuse plot. The range mechanic makes the battles more interesting than Pokemon's triple/rotation battles, I think

Red fossils are the only things I hate about the game. Hard enough to get some of the normal fossils, but some of those red bastards are nearly impossible

I have both it and the sequel.

Was actually really fun- but then again I love dinosaurs already. I still need to 100% both the games though. Some fossils are really hard to find.

I've played the first one and it was good. I enjoyed the battle system and Dinosaurs are fucking cool. Never got around to the second.

The plot is still really silly (de-evolution ray, really?) but at least is a little more plot driven than Pokemon.

Champions is basically The Same But MORE. More dinosaurs, a bunch of non-dinosaur prehistoric critters, a higher level cap, and effects scale based on level now.

Plot is basically "Rich dude who owns Jurassic Battle Park holds tournament to give away said park." Then The Barebones Brigade shows up and shit gets sillier.

It's fun and the battle mechanic is good (they use the rotational battles better than Jade Cocoon 2 IMO), but it's so damn easy.
Fossils are a chore to clean but not as bad as Spectrobes where you had to dig on the spot.
