when i was a kid, i thought strength was the best move because in G/S/C, the move animation was you hurling a fucking boulder at the opponent. i didnt even realize the damn move was normal type.
also, a few other things:
1) it took me months my first time to beat R/S/E because i had no idea you had to talk to the scientist in his house to get rock smash in mauville
2) no idea where you were supposed to go after blackthorn city, thought you had to go south
3) thought skarmory was a gen 3 poke and scizor was gen 4
4) in R/S/E had no idea where to go after flannery, didnt realize your dad was the 5th gym until i looked it up
5) kept getting rolled over by dad using focus punch and slaking. yeah, i was a dumb ass
6) thought emerald was a good game, pffttch
7) thought d/p were good games, pffftch
8) the obvious no idea how types worked. the only thing i knew was that normal types and fighting types couldnt hit ghost types, that's literally it (and no, i didnt know ghost types couldnt hit normal), and i kinda knew water/grass fucked up rock types, and the basic water>fire>grass
9) i believed every pokemon "glitch" i saw online
10) i only beat red my first time playing G/S/C because i spammed hyper potions for days until his charizard was stuck using struggle and i could kill it, this is how i won a majority of my fights when i was a kid playing pokemon
11) didnt think it was shitty and lame of me to use legendaries
