>friend finds out i play because i take out DS when parents late to pick me up, thank God he was only one left
>we talk for a bit, he played aroubnd Gen II himself etc.
>find out a senior that year and one of my best friends were avidly into pokemon for III gens
>Avidly talk about pokemon on the sidelines, learn that i have the highest power level, in town and in area.
>friends treat me like a gym leader, even though i'm only decent (1525 in showderp)
>become better at football, continue hidng power level like its my job
>get GF junior year (her younger brother plays, tell him i used to but i could train a team if he wants someone to battle)
I was never more than decent at either pokemon or football, and now that HS is over i have only one reccomendation.
PLAY AT HOME. HIDE YOUR POWERLEVEL.
If you find friends that play, all the better, play with them after school or on the weekends. Don't make pokemon the first thing that you do, and will become just another facet of who you are. Become more. It makes you interesting, and attracts the bitches.
working out also doesn't hurt, but make sure you have a pokewalker in your pocket.
