I want to get all of the pokemon in White 2.

Which of the pokemon games do I need to buy to do this?

Is it true that you can get almost all of the pokemon with HeartGold and SoulSilver?

I think you just need Emerald, Platinum, HeartGold and White2.

White2 has Unova and a couple of others.
HeartGold has gen 1 and 2.
Platinum = Sinnohmons and Emerald has hoenns.

I did this last year during B/W. If I recall correctly I got a bunch from Black itself, and I also had a white version I got the exclusives from. Soulsilver, Emerald, Fire Red, Platinum, and both Diamond and Pearl I had to borrow from friends for the skunk and fat cat respectively.

Technically all you need is W2 and the GTS.

But if you want to do that without external trading,
>W2 for base
>B2 for version exclusives
>HG/SS for every single Gen 1, 2, and 3 Pokemon sans events
>Platinum for remaining Gen 4 starters and legendaries
You'll have to restart HG/SS a bunch for the starters from the other gens though, but it's possible.

Jokes on you, we've had Keldea, genesect and meoletta events recently. HGSS had a jirachi one, we're getting a deoxys one next month. Mew has had multiple distros in the last few years. Victini too.

The only event mons we need are celebi and manaphy.

We got a Celebi event right before Gen 5 though. Remember? It was the only way to get Zorua in BW1 for some reason.

How do you not still have your old DS/DSi from Gen 4 and 5?

You can get both Dialga and Palkia in Platinum, but if you want to get two games instead of one, I suppose that's up to you.

Also, you'll need Dream Radar for the sake of the Kami trio if you're only gonna use BW2 instead of B/W
