Look at your own faggotry. Yes, the anime is just a shameless marketing tool, but people still find it watchable because you don't have to literally deny parts of it exist to continue to enjoy it. Most /vp/ goers tried to read it after the Specialfags flocked in and made it seem like the greatest thing ever. Then we held entire threads picking out all the bullshit parts. Some people continued to read and ended up liking it despite that stuff, others resented the Specialfags for wasting their time and acting like it was really better than the anime. The only characters people tend to recognize from the manga are Yellow and sometimes Blue or Green w/e this is confusing always since the way the fanart draws her is so radically different from how people depict Leaf. I guess that's similar with this Platina chick, but people literally don't know she's a thing. People see fanart of her and see it as Dawn. This results in the horrible Charm Up Dawnfags we have who never watched the anime and saw how she actually was. Please OP, educate them so we can at least get rid of that lot as they're know where to properly direct their affections and not spam shitty anime screencaps.

Huh, looks like I upset some people. Look, I wasn't trying to insult people for not recognizing Platinum instead of Dawn. I had the picture and decided to post something somewhat relevant and half-assed to get the point across (hence the "commoner" bit; it's a joke on the character). It was all in good fun.

And of course I know not everyone has read the manga. I wasn't aiming to force people to like it. I'm just saying that unlike the anime, this manga actually TRIES to deliver. Sure, there are some bumps here and there, but the overall effort on characters and piecing together all the region's correlating events is what fans like about this manga. Yes, this isn't the best manga out there and people can choose to not read it, but implying that everyone likes it for "lel so edgy!! Zapmoltcuno was aeswome!!" is just off the mark and aren't even relevant to topic most of the time. It just feels like those are the go-to insults people make when facing anything Pokespe related.

Maybe if the anime wasn't retardedly long, as well as the manga. Pokemon is a mega franchise, so you're seriously asking for quite a bit there. I havn't even played all the games yet. I couldn't force myself through Ranger as I hated it. There might be characters from it I don't know, but I wasn't going to play a game I didn't enjoy. That's how the manga and anime can be for people.

Bianca grew on me just for feeling like a real character. Pokemon is full of larger than life characters, but Bianca is just this normal girl, with a normal protective father who wouldn't let her adventure as early as she wanted and still looms over her protectively. At first Bianca is about as shitty as your average no-name trainer, but in a couple years she starts to get her act together and learn to live outside her father's house, gaining the job of Juniper's assistant and getting together a decent team of Pokemon to separate her from the common trainer, while still not being "the best there ever was". She's respectable in the sense of no matter how bad a trainer you are, there's always room for improvement. Also, aside from her really annoyingly overused gag of knocking Ash into water fountains, she was a pretty good character in the anime. Watching her battle with Emboar was one of the more interesting battles and showed how a Pokemon and trainer could be a really good match.

You didn't actually watch it, did you? If you were to watch it, you'd see that there's way more to the story than just "lolis stabbing each other". The story is beautiful and even the villain is sympathetic because of her development.

I was leaning heavily towards Homika when she was revealed, but Iris stole me away first. Homika was also really disappointing in the games, but I guess that's what happens when you're an early game gym leader. Least the anime showed her off really well.

Most of the characters have very developed backstories. Some of them got though (including during the series itself as well) very damaging psychological and physical abuse, so there's a reason for all the violence that goes beyond parasital paranoia. Not to mention all the surprising plot twists.

Also, it was one of the few animes that I could connect with the characters on an emotional level losing to only Serial Experiments Lain in that regard. The violence was just the cherry on top.

The games are the most important canon. That's where the franchise makes its money. That's what people care about. One of the many mangas of the franchise is nowhere near as important as the games themselves the franchise is build upon. Pokemon is made for the games, adapted to the other mediums from there.
