Torterra was a repeat of Meganium
Feraligatr and Typhlosion have great designs, and Meganium looks like it has Down Syndrome.
Likewise, Infernape and Empoleon look amazing, but Torterra looks like a kid with a learning disability drew it.

Meganium looks good for what it's evo line is, the pips on chikorita sprout to bulbs on bayleef, and then they flourish on Meganium, plus it's still a kickass dinosaur, but yeah, it's stats suck and people always go for Typh/Feral

Torterra was probably the best starter in GEN IV, moveset was absurdly broad - Crunch, WoodHammer, Curse, EQ, Crunch, Leech Seed etc etc

If I had to rate each starter in terms of looks/use mixed as one

Gen I: Venusaur/Blastoise/Charizard
Gen II: Typhlosion=Feraligatr/Meganium
Gen III: Blaziken=Swampert/Sceptile
Gen IV: Torterra/Infernape/Empoleon
Gen V: Samurott/Serperior/Emobar
Gen VI: Chespin/Froakie/Fenekin

Charmander was always the first gone, then Squirtle, and then Bulbasaur. They were all close, though. They put up a bunch of posters, and they all had about the same results.

Besides the whole 'Charizard is for fags sneaky stones' garbage, all the gen I starters are solid. Personally Bulbasaur is my favourite, but they each have their own charm.
I honestly can't hate on anyone for their choice of Johto starter, all are excellent.
Hoenn has the worst starters. Mudkip line is good, and Treecko's alright, but I'm not a fan.
Gen IV comes down to preference. Chimchar line is probably the best overall, but the final evolutions are good, and Piplup is cute. Very weak middle forms though.
Gen V, the Tepig line sucks but Snivy line are all good and while Samurott divides opinion the first two at least are good.

Overall, 2>1>5>4>3

I wouldn't mind swapping 4 with 5, they're fairly similar to me, although including middle forms makes me think 5 nudges it.

Well for rest of us elementary school was more than five years ago, so even if we did have a system like that (I know I didn't) we'd forgotten it.
When you're using green and red, they're almost universally good and bad respectively, and mixing them up like that makes reading your image an absolute nightmare.
I'm not even going to go into your choices. They're actually not horrible, just kind of baffling.

if your pokemon is fainting that frequently it is your fault not theirs. i played black 2 all the way through without "training" i never used repel, never ran and just caught every pokemon in the aria i could before moving to the next. i rotated all my team and never had a problem. i actually beat the last member in the elite 4 with a pokeball. i made her run out of pp and made her struggle to death as i threw pokeballs at her. like a boss.

You can get all 656 or so Pokemon in the game itself, without needing to trade or use gimmicks. Most can be obtained before the Elite Four, and there are some aesthetic fixes like making Pokemon names use lowercase letters instead of all capitals and optional changes to movesets and stats to make weaker Pokemon more competitive.

1, Squirtle is awesome as is Bulbasaur. Charmander is the least original pile of shit I've ever seen. Gen 2, Cyndaquil had potential but became the turd that is Typhlosion, Meganium was kind of cool, but boring. Neutral on Totodile.
Gen 3 was terrible in every fucking way possible. Treeko was shit, Torchic was shit, Mudkip is all it has going for it.
Gen 4 was seriously great, loved all three.
Tepig sucked, Snivy was cool, Samurott is weird looking. Not bad, just really weird.

I haven't gotten a legit White simply because without those mods, I can only imagine the lamest game GF has ever produced.

You got a weak lizard thing and then WHOA, it has evolved into a motherfucking fire-spewing dragon whose design reigns over those of Venusaur and Blastoise. Squirtel was the first starter I played this with, charmander the second and bulbasaur the third. Bulbasaur's probably been the biggest bro out of the 3 for me, and I'm not to fond of charmander, although I don't hate him either.

First games I've played. Chikorita was my first pick, then cyndaquil then totodile. Chikorita and Totodile are tied for me honestly (Chikorita with Reflect really helps against Whitney btw) I like Cyndaquil line, but not as much as the other 2. Nostalgia goggles makes me love this set of starters the most.
>Gen 3
Cant decide between Torchic and Mudkip, both lines are pretty badass imo. Never really had an interest with Treeko, and honestly I don't really even have an opinion when it comes to him.
>Gen 4
Pimpoleon might be blue, but he's black on the inside. Favorite starter from this one, although it takes him a while to get decent moves, sadly. Turtwig is a very close second. Not fond of Chimchar, but he isn't that bad either.
>Gen 5
In game Oshawott is my favorite while design wise Snivy gets the prize. Too bad he's useless. Tepig is probably my least favorite starter in the series, but don't really hate him.

Gen 1, 2 and 3 all starters are rad, no wrong choices. Although to me Mudkip and Cyndaquil stick out amongst their gens, just me.

Turtwig and Chimchar are also rad as fuck, I prefer Turtwig.

As the OP said Gen 5 is as a whole pretty fucking shit, you have the grass type that looks cool the whole evolution but it gets no decent attack even in game, the fire one that only looks tolerable in the first stage than immediately transforms into living overgrown cancer tumor, with shitty copypasta fighting type added, but doesn't learn a decent fighting move via level up. yes I'm fucking mad and then you get the way starter who looks shit at first and then turns into cool looking guys. There isn't really anything wrong with it, unless you're like one of the many autistic on here and are like "Hurr inferior quadrupedal faggotmon" but at the same time it doesn't have a lot going for it either, it gets totally outclassed by other water pokemon and the other water starters, including shit-tier Piplup whose only redeeming quality is god-tier steel second typing.

The first time I played BW, was a few days after the japanese release.

I destroyed the entire game, soloing Serperior and a couple of meat shields Nothing else.

I made a BW Nuzlocke with a second round (Vs N and then Vs Alder) and Emboar never died and stuck with me to the end.

Samurott is a similar situation to Serperior (used him in a BW2 japanese run).
