ITT: Most difficult E4/gym battles in main games.
>15. Wattson (Emerald)
One word. Manectric. As a pokemon that can evolve pretty early, Manectric is pretty damn strong. By the time I reached wattson most of my team weren’t fully evolved, so Manectric wasn’t piece of cake. Also, shock wave made it impossible to use such moves as double team.
>14. Phoebe (Emerald)
While she didn't have pokemon that could potentially OHKO your whole team, her Bannetes/Sableye were too annoying, since you probably hadn't had effective pokemon against her.
>13. Roxie (B2W2)
Somehow I found her pretty difficult to defeat. Probably it’s because I didn’t use Fire pokemon, but that wouldn’t help, because of freaking Rollout...
>12.Volkner (Platinum)
I expected a bit more challenging fight, as normally you would have earthquake by that time, but trust me, his level 50 Electrivire isn’t someone to be messed with. Probably the most difficult gym leader in Sinnoh.
>11. Drake (Emerald)
As every dragon trainer he was especially though, but not as though as other dragon trainers, because in Gen III they introduced more dragon types, so at least he isn't using 3 salamences and kingdras...
>10. Sabrina (FR/LG).
Wow, that huge level gap AND these overpowered pokemon (talking about Alakazam) against which the best attack at that time was BITE or something. Silph CO wasn't enough to train your team to withstand her Alakazam.
>9. Bugsy (HG/SS)
Scyther is just too strong to be faced so early. I used Scyther all the way to post game and I didn’t have any troubles with him. Bugsy, however, uses Scyther in the SECOND GYM. At that time your starter barely has reached second form, and yet you have to face Scyther, which, by the way, uses U-turn that switches out to Kakuna, which is there just to poison you.
