So, I am nearing the Elite 4 in Black2 and I can;t wait for the Pokemon World Tournament.

Thing is..Do i really need to create a competitive team for it?

I know my current mons won't ever make it there(Mystery egg team) but is it really needed to use shit like scarfed pokemon who are EV trained and shit?

If so, what would be a good team setup for it?
Personally i'm thinking on making a team based around stalling. Or maybe a weather team.

or i could just go with the trusty ol' Starmie and build a team around it.

It's easy enough you don't need a competitive team.

I ran Starmie, Metagross, Garchomp. All EV trained, no idea/don't care what IVs. Don't run into much trouble.

As long as you have good coverage and you're not an idiot, you should be able to get pretty far. I managed to unlock the champion's tournament using my in-game team, although I still haven't managed to beat the champion's tournament (my team hasn't got the best defensive synergy). Although the NPCs will be using "competitive" items (life orb, choice scarf, etc.) so you need to be wary of that.

The idea of a mono team always entertained me. And I always kinda wanted a competitive team, so i think I'm going to strike a few birds with one stone and make a mono-type team for the PWT.

Now the question is what type?
Water seems obvious since it got acces to Cloyster and Starmie, but a Dragon Team seems fun too..

Yeah, it may be a little difficult but you surely can win, you probably just won't most of the time. Just make a pretty creative strategy and you're good to go.

When you hit gym leaders and champions it gets tough. I used Conkeldurr, garchomp, gliscor for most of my wins.

Getting good matchups is probably the biggest factor at the higher levels. Having a well rounded max speed team helps.

I'd bet all these people in here saying "it wasn't a problem, I used my in-game team!" were all using Excadrill, Volcarona and Hydreigon in game.

Unova leaders is pretty easy, but beyond that you'll probably have to rely on an EVed team or lucky matchups to get beyond the next few tournaments.

I've run a doubles team based around Worry Seed Regigigas pretty successfully, the only tournaments I really have trouble with are the VGC download tournaments. If you EV train and play smart you should be able to tackle it even without top-tier OU pokemon.

Regional Tournaments (Kanto, Johto... Unova) can be done with an in-game team, but when you attempt to unlock the champions tournament by winning the world leaders you'll need some EV trained pokemon since in those tournaments leaders and champions have good speed and hold useful items.
