HGSS has Kanto and all that jazz but Kanto is not big and it's pretty barren. But it has a BF and that'c cool.
Platinum has an island to explore in the post-game with Heatran sidequest, my favorite sidequest ever. It also has the BF.
Emerald has the Battle Frontier, that while being very big it's pretty much what you have left. There are no post-game areas.
FRLG added the Sevii Islands that I personally had a lot of fun exploring, but and while being awesome, do not weight tnough to have more post-game that any other gen
