I'm 20, almost 21. I think I've been a fan since 1998 or 1999, my first game was Pokemon Yellow as I had to wait until my 7th birthday for a Gameboy colour. I recently started to buy Pokemon soft toys and figures now that I have a job and spare money. I won a lifesize Chikorita that is on the way to me that I spent quite a lot of money on.. but I am so excited.

Do any of you guys think you'll stop being a fan of Pokemon anytime soon?

About to turn 24 on Friday

Started watching the anime back in 1999 (before it went on Kids WB) and my station trolled kids by airing the new Pokemon episodes right when school started. In Christmas 1999, I got a ton of Pokemon cards and an atomic purple GBC with Blue.

Been a fan of mainly the games since. Stopped watching the anime and caring about the TCG some time in Johto/Gen II.

I'm 27. Started with an emulated Japanese Blue Version because I knew about Pokemon before it hit the states. Got Blue (and later Yellow) as soon as I could when they were released here.

My girlfriend lives with me and we both play. We're currently playing through BW2. I can't see ever not being a fan, although I've been having a hard time getting behind playing as a rookie trainer every game when I've been doing this for 16 years. I inject a lot of personal headcanon into the games as a result.

Been a fan since the anime first aired, at least. Saw Pokemon 2000 in theaters. Admittedly did not play my first game until Crystal, which I received for Christmas.

I have that same green/purple handbook that OP has in the image, a giant pile of assorted cards (had a Shining Charizard before ruining it like an idiot. Shit runs for a pretty penny on eBay), at least one of every game from each generation, and I guess a couple plush dolls.

I really have no clue where any of my merchandise is.

19, and I've been a fan since about 1998. I remember going to see the first movie, and how awesome that was. I don't have that much poke merch though. I have hundreds of pokemon cards, a few pokemon kids books from gen 1, and Ruby (yes, the only game I physically own is Ruby).

My dad didn't like the fact that I was a pokemon fan, so when he saw how much I played Ruby (something like 400 hours) he decided that he didn't want to feed my "addiction". I do have Colleseum though, but I got that shortly after I got Ruby, so he wasn't aware of it yet. When my dad found out that I still like pokemon last year, he got really pissed and told me that if he sees me playing pokemon again, he'll crush my computer. Thankfully I'm away at college now, but I have no money so I can't buy pokemon stuff. Shit sucks yo.

Today Im 24. The only Pokemon merch I have is 3 games, and a Pikachu hat. I lost everything over the years due to moving, fires, and thieves. I'm lucky if I even hear from my brother once a month. I miss him.

Haha, me too. I'm 28 I began playing Green in my teens when the franchise started. I was in Japan when it just first came out and the sales weren't that great but I enjoyed it. It was my first 'Japanese' game where I would be making use of my language skills.

I can't wait for X/Y but as always I have to come up with some plot in my head that I've moved and left my Pokemon behind for some reason. I guess kind of like how ash travels but seems to start at the same point.

I feel like I've been one of the original ambassadors of Pokemon, I love seeing it get even better and better over the years and the franchise really expand outwards.

I remember reading about "Pocket Monsters" in Nintendo Power before it was even released in the US, thinking, "Holy shit, this sounds awesome!"

I bought Red & Blue as soon as it came out and I was 17 and in highschool. I remember asking some of my friends if they wanted to play it with me but none of them seemed interested. My grandma had a GameBoy from when she used to play Tetris, so I gave her Blue and asked her to play with me. We both got into it.

I got Yellow when it came out but it felt so much like more of the same that it kinda killed my Pokemon buzz. We got Gold & Silver but I think I eventually lost interest and never beat Gold. There was probably a lot of stuff going on in my life at the time.

I think my grandma and younger brother continued to play the games throughout the years but I missed Gen 3 entirely and just recently, 2 weeks ago, 15 years later, started playing HeartGold.

I gotta say it's great. I racked up 100 hours in 2 weeks and I'm loving the game. It's a very solid RPG and extremely well designed, with a surprising amount of complexity and depth. My roommate is playing alongside me in SoulSilver and we've both beaten the Pokemon League and are beginning our adventure in Kanto. It's kind of mindblowing how vast this game is.

Anyways, I'm not sure what to do after I finish HG if my Pokemon itch isn't sufficiently scratched. Any suggestion for which games to pick up next?

I'm 25. I didn't get into pokemon until 2011 when I downloaded a GBA emulator that came with games from /rs/. Decided to play fire red to see why people keep buying the games. I was surprised I enjoyed it. I've been avoiding the games forever because I hated the anime growing up and just assumed the games were like other shitty cartoon releases.

My aforementioned grandma has Platinum but I don't think she ever beat it. She got stuck on the Elite Four because she didn't have a strong grass type or something.

I wanted to trade/battle her but she lives in Pennsylvania and I'm in California, and I don't think she can be bothered to figure out how to get her DS connected to the Wifi, but I can try to walk her through it.

22, and my first game was Red. I used to steal my cousin's Game Boy when I was younger, and discovered Pokemon. Begged my parents to buy me one of my own. They ended up buying Red for me, and Blue for my sister, but since my sister was never interested, I ended up owning both of them.

I had EVERYTHING that was Pokemon related, kids at school used to stick around me just for the Pokemon stuff. Unfortunetly, as the Pokemon craze started dying around in my class, there went my friends.

Never left Pokemon.. until a year after Emerald came out, got into some big shit with kids in school and in a fit of rage and tears, I took all my Pokemon merchandise and gave it away. I sold all my games and stepped back from Pokemon.

Until around the time Platinum came out. My cousin and his best friend visited me in Summer. And I got curious about Pokemon Diamond. I borrowed his DS, started a new game and speed played it. I didnt turn off the DS in three days, since I couldnt save. After I got to the league and was forced to turn it off.. I realized how much I missed Pokemon.

I regret my stupid young self for letting petty insults get to give up my favorite game.

Worst decision ever. Fast forward to college and one of my friends gets me a DS as a present, so I investigate White and the feels all come back. Now I have a 3DS with White, Black 2, Emerald, Diamond, and SS, and pre-ordered X. It's good to be back

I had, plushies, guides, figures, cards (so. many. cards..), puzzles, board games, posters. Anything. You name it. I had it.

Currently own: Pearl, Platinum, SS, HG, White and White2. Only thing Pokemon Ive never experienced are the Mystery Dungeon games, cause that was around the time I left it. Tried to play them through emulators, but cant really get into them.

I'm 16 and my first game was Red. It's not as difficult as many people think to play a Pokemon game without knowing much of what's going on. I thought the game consisted of emptying the other Pokemon's HP bar and winning like that, and I always kept the moves that did damage because I didn't see why I should keep the ones that did absolutely nothing. Of course I sucked at it and I remember bumbling around Mt. Moon for a couple days.

My sister, who was around 9 or 10 at the time, lost interest in the franchise early in the game, and passed Red on to me. I don't remember exactly where she left off, but it was definitely before Pewter City, because I also remember not understanding why I couldn't go to the next route because of some fucker leading me to the Gym every time.

My Red cartridge's play time has been maxed out for a while now.
