Why wouldn't it? You are still attaching Energy from your hand to your Pokemon, but you are only circumventing the "One Energy attachment from Hand per Turn" rule with Deluge (or any Ability and Attack for that matter)

When you're argument for something not being the same as attaching energy from your hand says that its attaching energy from your hand, then you have a contradiction.
If it were energy attached from the top of your deck by LEGEND Box, then it'd be okay.

Regular, I also managed to pull two Absols (one regular holo, one RH). So that means if I want to sell it, it's gotta be before Worlds (or AT Worlds).

I'm hoping I'll get some better luck at Ventura and Torrance this weekend, but I can't guarantee it.

oh forgot to add, the purpose of the deck is to use Latias EX as an attacker. Put out 4 Deoxys EX on the bench and give Latias EX the Plasma Badge. Its attack will do 110 ignoring everything. The ability is also pretty nice too. Cobalion/Klinklang is the only deck that's given me problems.

The general idea is to hit hard with Thundurus or Kyurem and try to take quick prizes. Eventually trying to sweep the rest of the game w/ HTL and, in certain situations, Deoxys EX or Snorlax/Lugia EX is also a viable strategy for the deck.

It's pretty fast to me. Plasma Badge lets me use Colress Machine on Latias EX allowing a two turn set up for potentially 80-110 damage that can't be negated. I at least have one Deoxys EX out and if not I get them pretty easy unless they're prized. It's not as fast as Darkrai or Keldeo, but I'm not worried about those since they can't attack Latias-EX.

Most decks usually use two tools of the same kind. If one goes away, I can get it back with Shadow Triad. If both are a prize, well shit, just have to attack with what I have. Deoxys is a pretty good attacker sometimes. Out of the several matches I've had with the deck, getting a badge wasn't that difficult. I usually drew into one from the supporters. A problem with that is I run out of cards pretty fast going through the deck. I have been thinking about taking out the two Team Plasma Grunts and adding one more badge and another Ultra Ball.

This is the thread I've been looking for. I haven't played the TCG since the first series but I want to get back into it. I'm completely out of the loop, what do I need to get to start. I saw that Plasma Freeze has just been released, do I buy one of the theme decks? I know I need to do a lot more research to start playing again but the idea of it just popped into my head. Theme decks are bad unless you just don't give a shit. Purchasing single cards is your best bet to not break the bank looking for good cards. Just look around for competitive decks and see if any of them tickle your fancy.

Just got back from PF pre-release.

Pulled absolutely fuck all from my 6 PF packs, got rolled 1-5 in the Mini-tournament they had afterwards.

Bought 12 Plasma Storm packs out of the opened boosters at the shop the pre-release was at. Kinda just pulled 4 at random from each of the PS boxes.

Victini EX, Black Kyurem EX, Articuno Full Art, Blastoise Secret.
So it wasn't such a bad day after all.

Thundurus EX is a VERY nasty threat, remember that Thundurus/Deoxys decks use Team Plasma Ball and Ultra Ball to get a T1 +40 Thunder Knuckle.

Official PTCG in Japan seems to be pushing Eelektross Megalo Cannon for some reason. It's been featured on main Megalo Cannon page and in the blog about best non-EX cards. I finally managed to get over to my Target to look and I did find some new stuff in (though, again, probably not as new as one would think)

Found some Dragon Vault 3-packs, Black and White Kyurem boxes, Legends of Justice box, Emerging Challenges box, various packs as well as the Elite Trainer box for PS.

So, nothing horribly new but some interesting things, none the less.

I feel like good plasma decks with snorlax/giratina/lugia are the secret best deck type and in a tier of their own. They're blindingly fast and so damn good at building up game winning momentum despite what your opponent does. Above all though i'd have to say the sheer on command flexibility of the deck to just *respond* to whatever your opponent does in order to create a very situational advantage to keep the game going is what really puts this deck up there though. I've never trusted a deck to win more than plasma snorlax/lugia/giratina build

This. The deck is just so damn fun. My only problem is when I'm loading my bench against Darkrai decks, those Giratina start dropping like flies. Dark Claw+HTL is also good night for Snorlax and all that energy.

But ideally you'd be able to be swinging for OHKO with Teampact by then or have another Snorlax getting charged up.

Yeah team plasma with lugia/snorlax/giratina is absolute bananas.

Landorus also gives the deck trouble because or snorlax's weakness to fighting.

But man with DCEs and Colress machine and skylas/junipers/ns among other ways to draw into colress machine the energy sets up amazingly fast

You'd think with teampacts 5x energy cost it would be hard but with good draw you can get it turn 1 easy

It is big, but not as much as Thundurus/Deoxys/Kyurem which is considered the BDIF by default. And, well, it won the first Worlds qualifier so it has to be good.

I'd like to see the winning list though, I can't imagine Genesect and Virizion being played on their own with Klinklang being still big there. I could see V-Create Victini and Blend GRPD being in the deck to make both the Klinklang and the mirror matchups better.

Well, the cards themselves weigh around the same as regular holos. Assuming rarity distributions are equal and all the packs you scale pull holos, it would mean you get 1 FA in maybe every 12 packs

Lugia was 0.07 heavier, so I guess FAs should be easier to spot than regular EX

A box costs (for me, anyways) $110 (including all taxes and shipping) and I usually get 2 regular EXs, an FA and an ace spec

For $110, I can buy around 20 blisters (each blister costs $5 plus tax here in Canada) and I only need 25% success rate for it to be better than a box

Unless of course, you sell the extra packs from the box, but that's also very inconvenient

In terms of scales, anything that can measure 0.01g should be fine. Prices range from as low as $5 to $20+

I used a $5 made-in-china scale for a while with great success before upgrading to a $15, much bigger scale so that the blisters would actually fit on the weighing platform. So yeah, just make sure you get a scale that is actually big enough for a blister

Scaling is taking a pack of cards, weighing it, and depending on the number you can guess what's inside of the pack. EX's and Holo rares weigh more than non-holo rares and such. Full-Arts and Secret Rares are still variables and it's hard to guess which number they're sweet spot is in.

Usually someone in the community goes out and buys a ton of packs, weighs them, a reports the numbers and what was inside of them then others try to go for packs in the ranges that are good.

There might not be a rotation this year, but if there is one, somewhere around Dragons Exalted is a likely cut off point. Next year will definitely be XY-on which probably means EX going away at least for a while unless XY doesn't just keep them instead of introducing something else to take their place (either an old idea like Prime or a completely new one).

Also, how is it 100 damage per turn? You have to knock out Cofagrigus in order to use that ability, and it's only 3 damage counters. Chandelure and poison are the only two things that are consecutive, both of which only add 40/60. You also assume that your pokemon will live.

Thundurus/Deoxys will have no trouble against this deck, since Thundurus can do 70 damage for one energy (assuming 4 Deoxys' are on the bench). Throw in HTL+Virbank and then you get 100 damage per turn for one energy AND you get to set up that pretty little Kyurem (PLF) that's on your bench just waiting to wreck any EX that becomes a threat.

Went scaling for the first time today. Managed to pull a FA Skyla, but the rest were all just normal holos, and one non holo rare. The scale I have only does 10th grams, and doesnt seem to be able to tell the difference between a FA pack and a non holo rare. Is it more obvious if you have a scale that measures hundreths? Any other tips in general?

Play the Online TCG to learn the rules, and get some basic knowledge of how stuff works before looking into which cards to buy irl for decks.

These TCG Generals/Forums on other websites will be good places to study what is being used in the current format. Also joining a club/group or whatever in your local area that plays Pokemon TCG would be a good idea. Network with people and learn.

Modified Format (official tourney format) is a set rotation like MtG's Standard. It's currently BW-on meaning only cards that came from and after the first Black and White expansion is legal.

There is Unlimited Format (MtG's Legacy) but this is not an officially supported format. But you can usually find this stuff at your local Pokemon League. League-play varies though as the games are set up by the players. If you want to play with really old cards or just stuff from DP-era, if it's okay with your opponent, it's fair game.

Special Energy is Special Energy and is still treated differently from Basic Energy, if that is what you're asking.

But with Thundurus EX for example, his first attack only states Energy, not Basic or Special, so you can attach either.

Big basics are big basics whether they have that EX at the end or not. It's ridiculous how some try to justify their boring cookie-cutter stuff by claiming they don't play all EX.

Kyurem is one of the best cards in the set, though, not average. But then again, the gap between good and bad cards at the moment is so big only a few cards get played at all.

So we're missing a Suicune-EX, Regice-EX, Regirock-EX, Mesprit-EX, Azelf-EX, Uxie-EX, Manaphy-EX (and Phione-EX but that's stretching it), and Arceus-EX.

Probably won't ever see any of those though, since Japan's July set is a bunch of reprints (likely so that the US and JP have a synchronized release date for new sets for XY. That is, if the US skips that set).

And I really wanted to see an Arceus-EX too.

They're not EXs though, and this whole format has been about the Legendary pokemon as EXs. Meloetta was released as a non-EX first, but it got one later. Same for the Kami Trio, which were released as non-exs at first.

I tried it yesterday and I did so-so, managed to pull a Thundurus EX, a SR Max Potion, and a Kyurem. I probably would've gotten more if I scaled on a flat surface instead of scaling 'em on some tins.

I mean, scaling isn't easy to begin with. I've been doing it for a while now and only have about a 33% success rate between EXs and regular holos

The red/white one is probably Emerging Powers. All of those codes give you a booster credit. Only codes from Plasma Storm onwards give you a specific pack.

Well, that is pretty average considering the average distribution for holos in a box is around 9 regular holos and 3 EXs (Shinys and Full Art Supporters if you are lucky). I doubt the average distribution of holos would be any different for blisters since they are come from the same factory, just packaged differently

I redeemed the codes I got from my prerelease and got Kyurem and Deoxys EX, also I bought the Psy Crush theme deck and I'll try to make an eevee-themed deck but I'm missing Umbreon and Glaceon, which are good trades for them?

I'm thinking on using Glaceon, Umbreon, Vaporeon and Deoxys as supporters on the bench and Leafeon and Kyurem as attackers, and Deoxys as Mewtwo counter too.
In trainers I just tossed draw supporters and plasma balls, shadow triad, etc.
