I used to think you would have a lower chance of running into rare Pokemon if you ran from the common ones instead of knocking them out. By my logic, if you knocked out all the common ones you'd HAVE to run into a rare.

In reality if you battle every single common Pokemon you run into it'll take much longer to find a rare Pokemon

i actually thought this for a long as time, because i never trained a wooper all the way, and quagsire looked to different... and torkoal comes right after and i never trained a camel very far (i assumed it evod from trading or something)

Anyway, I stupidly thought that Ghost was weak to Psychic for the longest time because I always used Gengar. So when I used Giratina in a double battle with the opponent using Alakazam, it surprised the hell out of me.

Aside from the anime, you never saw it. It was only available rarely in an optional dungeon in Johto, and no one ever used it. Come Gen III, you see these things in every pond.

I thought Faint Attack had a 1/10 chance to faint the foe's Pokemon. And every time I used it and it fainted the foe I thought to myself "That's the 1/10 chance of fainting the foe kicking in" and I'd feel super lucky.
