>>12205497Okay, real talk Janine whiners. Your schtick is getting bored and tiring.
You wanna know why Janine isn't well liked like the other female Gym Leaders? A few isolated, non-layering factors might come into play:
>No anime appearance Sorry to say it, but even Hoenn/Kanto's Battle Frontier gets recognition partially because of this. The games might be the source material, but people's memories of the other girls are more than likely tied to the Pokémon anime. I'm quite certain her anime-canon aunt has more recognition than her.
>Her only credit is being a replacementConsider other replacement Gym Leaders. Green/Blue was best defined as the rival from the original games, so he had an identity before Gym Leader. Juan? Wallace's teacher and the anime put him in last minute likely at the behest of TPCi. Janine? Replacing daddy for the post-game section of a game with a slow -- SLOW grind session fewer have endured.
>Facial features aside, her design doesn't exactly scream "Pokemon character"The thing is while she might remind others of a character from another series rather than Pokémon itself. Her hairstyle feels more at home with a Capcom game game character than a Sugimori or Unno design. Her overall design also feels typical of a ninja character from another game or anime series even though she's atypical from other girls in her own series. She stands out, just not for the right reasons.
>No artwork of Kanto Gym Leaders' redesigns from Gen II ever existedThere's a good chance no one even knew she existed just like how no one was aware Misty had an official aged-up design until Gen IV -- even though Gold and Silver have been around for over 10 years.
