So I want to jump into Pokemon Black/White however I only have the dosh for one game, should I go with Black/White 1 or Black/White 2 and why ?

It depends.. (I'm gonna go with White just because I own both.)

White: Interesting new Pokemon to meet. You won't be seeing any old generation Pokemon at all as you go through the game to get to the Elite Four.

White 2: It's a sequel pretty much to White and it explains what happens to Team Plasma after White. There's improved options such as a question popping up if you still want to use Repel after you used it. You'll be meeting old and new Pokemon, they start you off in these new towns, and there's a Pokemon World Tournament (PWT) so you can battle the gym leaders and more from the other regions.

I would say go with White so you can experience all these new Pokemon and see how you like it.

Also, on the sequels matter , there are a few differences in the region between Black 2 and White 2

For example Route 4 in White 2 is more desertic-lookign and full of ancinet ruins, while Black 2 had a road built on it and there's apartments on the side of the road.

Reversal Mountain in Black 2 is a cave with water, while in White 2 is a volcano-cave full of magma and shit

Opelucid is more technological in Black 2 (looks like a Tron city), whiel in White 2 is more tradicional looking

Personally I prefer W2 Unova to B2 Unova

I see, I think I might have found a relative bargain for the first installment so might go with that and see where it leads me but more question, with Soul Silver I had to install a crappy old router with a shitty old encryption in order to play online, is it the same with Black/White ?

I would recommend B2 or W2 as opposed to the first ones because there's just so much more to do. Even though it's a sequel, you don't need to know anything about the first games, it is a Pokemon game after all.

As far as which version to get, I wouldn't base that decision on version exclusives because you can get whatever exclusives you want from the other version from the GTS if you want. The two versions have different atmospheres though, Black and Black 2 focus on technology while White and White 2 focus on nature.

I don't know. My Gen IV games along with B/W only worked when my router was WEP. B2/W2 works with my WPA2 router.
