Not OP, but there's this guy named Drayano who makes Pokemon ROM hacks that follow the same plot as the games he's hacking, but are more challenging.

All gym leaders have 6 Pokemon, so do the Elite 4, and some other important figures. In addition, they don't stick -strictly- to one type, so you wind up having to raise a well-rounded team.

I absolutely love his work.

Volt White 2 and Blaze Black 2 are his hacks of B2/W2.

I'm in the process of making a challenge hack of Emerald inspired by Drayano's stuff. I'm about 2/3 of the way to having the game done up to and including Roxanne. Once I get that done, I'll release a test version for anyone who's interested.

Should I share it here when it gets to that point?

A lot of people on /vp/ talk about "HM slaves" and the like, suggesting that HM moves tend to suck as moves for actual battles.

Which ones aren't very good, and how could they be adjusted to still be useful in the end game without making them overpowered when you first get them?

Why not just use a save state when you normally would have saved?

It's not like you're save stating in the middle of battles and ruining the game for yourself.

For starters buff of of them (Like Rock Smash, only has 20 BP, make it 70 BP

Also, make them diverse

Instead of being all water/normal how about Fire HMs, or Electric ones

It's also broken to let spoiled, entitled children and shandys who can't cope with real pokemon games catch pokemon they shouldn't be able to catch. For example you can catch a level 85 Chandlure before you even reach the first gym just using a normal pokeball, without even weakening it. I stopped playing the game when that happened.

Are you using Desmume or NoCash?
Also, there is an AR code that fixes this error for the vanilla rom that also works for the hack as well.

Playing this as we speak (about to face Clay). It's fantastic, forces you to plan ahead instead of steamrolling the entire gym with a single underleveled Pokémon.
And I really like the variety of mons available.
