Well, here's the thing. It's like one of the earlier posts said, the later gens can actually make the earlier pokes more useful. Pokes that might have been unimpressive before are much better now. Unfortunately, sometimes the pokes introduced in the later gens have the advantage of both stats and movepools. Very rarely can an earlier poke, even with all the move updates, match the later pokes. There are those that have ALWAYS been the tops of their field. It's hard to tell which ones are which unless you keep up with competitive circles, although I don't like to rely on them and use my own judgment. I've used Aerodactyl before, and it is quite versatile now, and I even think it's better than Archeops.
