I'm kind of disappointed they didn't use the memory link feature a bit better. They already showed they could use it to import some data about your previous file, what's to say GF couldn't have used it to import data about your team from a gen 4 game and you could battle them?

I was playing I, II, III and V games but my heart still belongs to gen II. There were a lot of annoying things, like box manager, not enough place in bag, empty and lifeless Kanto... but I still love it. Gen V was something silly and strange for mevanillish, now I really like it. I had mixed feeling about gen I remake, now I'm addicted to FireRed. I was hating R/S/E, and I'm still thinking this is a piece of shit.

The newer pokemon games no longer have that element of surprise to them. In RBY, finding that Blue became Champion was a surprise. And in GSC, finding Red on top of Mt. Silver was another good surprise.

I didn't search the internet before playing and I managed to deduce the secrets in the games.

Although this sort of thing isn't just limited to pokemon. Most newer games don't have as many secrets as the older games. While they're better in most other aspects, this is one thing that older games are better for.

This. The reason they had to raise his team levels so drastically was to disguise the fact that it was utter shit. Only one or two of his Pokemon posed an actual threat, and Pikachu was an absolute joke. You could beat him at like level 50.
