I can no longer play the game without being extremely conscious of evs/ivs/natures/abilities/genitalia size. It's a little strange. I'd much rather not use pokes that would make the game harder for me, but I'd very willingly use a "perfect" furret or some gay shit than a shitty garchomp ingame.

Do people really think competitive pokemon is that bad? Like, seriously. You can still use whatever you want. Only faggots and people new to the metagame use Smogon's cookie cutter sets. People who actually know how to play the fucking game use what Pokemon they want to use. Even then you'll find a lot of Pokemon on Smogon have OU sets anyway. It's just that there are other Pokemon that can do that better, it doesn't mean you can't use that Pokemon.

And fuck, if you don't like OU you can just play a better tier.

I feel bad for the people who have been brainwashed to think "SMOGON BAD. CANT USE ANY POKEMON I LIKE"

true. Last battle I did with someone I was talking to online. I put two pokemon to sleep and he was like "uh... sleep clause?" and i'm like. "what are you talking about?" it's sad when most people online assume the battle is smogon rules.

No it isn't. Do you know how overpowered Spore/Focus Punch/Substitute Breloom would be if there were no Sleep Clause? Even official tournaments acknowledge that it's overpowered.

again you're putting little effort into this. every pokemon has a counter. what you do is when faced against a breloom with that smogon cookie cutter build. get a fast flying type like i dunno... crobat? with a chesto or lum berry. and throw the poor breloom off guard.

And you can KO Deoxys-A with Sucker Punch. That doesn't make Deoxys-A not overpowered. If you need a specific counter just for one Pokemon then it isn't balanced. Without Sleep Clause anyone with a decent sleep move can put everything on the other team to sleep. If you put something to sleep, and they don't switch, it's pretty much a guaranteed free KO. If they switch, you can sleep them again. If they have a lum berry, they use it up and their only defense against sleep is suddenly gone and they can fall asleep the next turn. Stuff like Insomnia isn't good because it barely gets distribution on good Pokemon.

What's stopping your opponent from using a sleep move when you switch in? What if you don't have a Prankster user? What if your Prankster Pokemon is KO'd?

Listing basic counters doesn't help. It's more complicated than that. If it was just "this thing is overpowered? well you can just use this!" then fucking nothing would need to be banned. But that's obviously not the case.

If you encounter a sleep user, you have to find a way to counter sleep. They're not going to be KO'd in a countering situation. Switching into a Pokemon to Taunt doesn't do jack shit if they predict a switch and sleep the Taunt user. Also note that this is gen 5, where they jacked up the sleep mechanics so the counter is reset every time you switch.
