So /vp/. Who do you prefer between Electabuzz and Electivire? Both aesthetic-wise and competetively. Also is Mamoswine any good? Looking to use one.

One thing I always liked about Electabuzz is that it's one of the few non-Normal pokémon that doesn't really resemble any real world animal, plant or object. It has black stripes on yellow fur, but it's not a tiger. It has long arms and a somewhat humanoid shape, but it's not an ape. It's a complete fantasy, and I like that for some reason.

This line os one of my favorite in the game because all three stages are awesome. Hell I even like Elekid, and Elekid is the only Babymon (Plus Riolu) that I actually like.

That said I prefer Electivire. Kinda wish he had kept Electabuzz's fangs

Mamoswine is my favorite ice type. Sure, I'm biased because Ground is my all time favorite type, but still: apart from looking cool, it's a Ground type who can fuck up those annoying Flying types, and doesn't get it's ass kicked by Grass types.

Those are very clearly based on mythological creatures, though, which I kind of count as a "real life" thing since they have a certain set appearance.
I kind of see some oni tropes on electabuzz (horns, tiger stripes, bipedal, affinity for thunder), but it doesn't feel as obvious as Shiftry being a tengu, or Lombre being a kappa.

Electabuzz is better on both counts. Vire is fat, slow, and less useful than its prevolution.

ya know, I used to really dislike electivire, but after getting to the point where it's like, "pokemon is pokemon and there's nothing else to it" I've come to like it a lot more.

I actually now find it more aestheticly please that eletabuzz just because of his football head.

Out of the whole line though, elekid is by far the best.

If electivire was a non-trade evolution I would use him all the time.

Well, if all the trade evolution pokemon weren't that way I would use them all the time. Just especially so in Electivire's case.

I've never owned an Electrivire, since I haven't found anyone willing to grind for a wild Elekid holding the right item, evolve it into an Electabuzz and then trade that Electabuzz with me just so I can have an Electivire. That's a lot of work just for letting someone else (who is most likely a stranger) have a certain pokémon, and it's hard to convince people to do that just for me.
