There are good and bad sprites in every Gen. To me Gen 5 is not as good as the previous gens, not in the sense of the art work but the way the 'animations' were executed. Some of them I loved, but a large majority ended up looking awkward or too jagged. It did add a bit more life into battles though and it was a step in the right direction.
