Honestly I'd probably be on the ghost side since there aren't nearly enough Pokemon to gather trends from at that point. I argue Sylveon is a new type though.

The evidence exponentially rules in favor of it being a new type known as "Dark". The guys who leaked a lot of info from Red and Blue are credible sources and they swear up and down that's what it is.

I think the yellow stripes might mean it's an electric type. Maybe it's more defensively based than Jolteon or something? Maybe there will also be a defensive fire type and a offensive water type eeveelution.

Clefairy and Clefable are both moon pokemon, there is a moon stone already in the game, and finally the legendary is Ho-oh (from the anime) who obviously is the guardian of the sun just look at it, so the other legendary to rival Ho-oh is going to be a moon type too.

It's obviously poison type. It has the same sort of yellow markings that poisonous animals have to ward of predators.

That or a normal type eeveelution. We've been waiting for a normal eeveelution /forever/ and all the hype would make sense for it to unique.
