After the third Gen I thought I was done with pokemon forever. Then well into te 4th gen's lifecycle I picked up Platinum on a whim.
I fell in love witht he franchis again.
I new next to nothing about the Pokemon and the region (I gave the pokedex a quick glance on Serebii) and almost each encounter with a new mon was a surprise.
I picked Empoleon and he quickly became my favourite Water type in the franchise. I have no love for Piplup, and prinplup is meh. But oh my goodness. EMPOLEON. I love that classy steel tux wearing penguin.
