Imagine having to Soft reset your game every time a something levels up and gains a point in a stat you wont use.
People dont do that though, because there's no fucking point to it. Pokemon is an RPG. The idea is to have your Pokemon be yours and yours only. They aren't like your freind's, despite looking the same.

You just give your pokemon an item to make it like you, or make it hate you. And you evolve by asking the Pokemon Center to evolve them for you.
