Someone had a thread about a PMD where you could choose any Pokemon that's the first of a evolutionary chain without all the personality bullshit. That fixes one of the main problems people have with the series. Then there's the whole "No evolving until the end of the game" thing. I personally didn't like it. Maybe mid-game or a little bit earlier would be nice.

Personally I don't want to be a Bulbasaur for the entire game before I can become a Venusaur.
