The art style is a mix of Gen 1 and Gen 5. It's normal.

The art style is being cleaned up. All the pokemon that has gotten a ton of shit up to now is usually pokemon that went a bit too far away from the original simple and organic style. Also plain retarded concepts that doesn't even look remotely like something that should be a pokemon is hopefully being avoided. I'm looking at you, aisu-kurimu-mon.
