Believing in 'fashion' is just a means of trying to distance yourself from others - it's elitism. Just like looking down on Genwunners is elitism - you don't want to be associated with 'the commoners'.
I understand that you think the counterculture is just as bad, but that's because you've grown up in a conformist youth - an 'us or them'.
There are plenty of people who don't fit into either box because they think it's dumb. Knowing that fashion followers are sheep does not make you a '2edgy' kid who goes AGAINST THE GRAIN. Maybe it does in your class or whatever, but in the real world things don't work like that.
