I like the individualism, I don't like the near-impossibility of trying to breed perfect pokemon. IVs are the reason people use pokegen.

Pointless. I can max out a single stat in about 15 minutes, and fully max out a Pokemon in half an hour. And that's ignoring EV items and Join Avenue.

I feel sorry for the kids who do random matchups and other online battles with they Pokémon they love and some competitive battler KO's their teams with just a Latios/Scizor/other Pokémon that smogonfags use all the time. It's like the battle with Ash vs Tobias.

I'll take less realism over tediously hatching eggs just to get good values. Natures, EVs, and HP (if they get calculated another way) are good enough for making pokemon individual.

People can whine all they want, but you'll always have to put some time and effort into getting a good Pokemon.

Virtually everything in an RPG could be construed as tedious. I don't see how EV training takes any more effort, you're just spamming attacks over and over again.

EV training takes little effort, same with breeding the right nature/ability. Breeding perfect IVs goes far beyond just being a little tedious though.

Though I highly doubt they'd ever do away with IVs.

At least EV training is actually training your Pokemon with some knowledge needed about EV yields. IVs are just rolling dice that gives hackers a huge advantage.

this is seriously the dumbest thing I've ever seen on /vp/

pokemon is all about having an advantage against your opponent. In one way or another.
That's why we have different types, different stats, resistances, held-items, ect.

EV's bring a verity to how you can play the same pokemon.
May it be a an all out attacker, a tank, a wall, whatever you want it to do.

Just because you play so one-dimensional doesn't mean everyone should have to.
Just so you can do better or what you think "fun" is.

IV's are their for thinks like different typed hidden powers.
While also giving you a surprise factor from having just a good pokemon and having a great pokemon.

You can already guarantee you pass down two IVs, and I bet GF will make breeding even easier in X/Y. Just start a collection of dittos with good IVs and the natures you want. You could even just hack them it wouldn't matter in the slightest. Breeding is tedious, but so is EV training and pretty much any and every form of grinding, but that's just a part of playing an RPG.

They don't need to be to show that they care about competitive. The fact that they put it in mechanics such as power items passing IVs prove that they know people breed/train their Pokemon hardcore for competitive matches.

Hate the player, not the game. Given that the alternative is every Pokemon being identical before being given EVs, I think we can deal with it.

Players taking steroids ruins the game Baseball, the playing field is not level and doing so gives cheaters an advantage. But they didn't change the game, they punished the players who cheated. GF will probably make breeding for high IVs easier in X/Y anyway.

Most people with huge numbers of Rare Candies likely hacked them, but I see nothing wrong with that. Grinding your Pokemon's level can be even more tedious than breeding.

That only makes it worse in every way.
It punishes you for wanting to run a certain ability, nature, gender,ect.
Whether it be just one thing or all together for a certain build you want to run.
Hell or just having a male or female poke you want.

What if you want adamant nature on your physical attacker with it being female
but can't
because you wont reach the highest base power of HP.

Your way forces you to jump more hoops and makes more of the same gender/nature/ect
of the exact same pokemon.
