i was so looking forward to everyone being on the exact same playing field when it came to x and y since it was on the 3ds, now i have to lookout for fakes on the gts and deal with faggots with a team of 6 latest gen shinies.

I dunno. The trading's been fine, as far as I've seen, and Nintendo's been good about keeping cheaters out of the online fighting so far. That's only gonna get better on the 3DS.

Why not just use a fake GTS to send whatever pokemon you want to yourself? Since it doesn't require hacking the game/3ds itself (afaik) it shouldn't be a problem.

I don't see why anyone would even WANT that. I'm not going to spend thousands of hours breeding for the perfect pokemon, then EV training, and then grinding it to Lv100.

...only later to find out "meh, this pokemon doesn't go well with my team." Fuck that. Nothing wrong with hacking in pokemon as long as they have legal stats/moves/etc.

Other people were laughing at me because I lost against some faggot with 6 arceus. That kid will never know the pleasure of getting legendary pokemon legitimately because Action Replays are so cheap and sold commercially.

This is how I think pokemon should be played: go through the game #YOLO style not giving a fuck about IVs, EVs, natures, etc and just use what you catch. Then, after you beat the game, go ahead and use Pokegen and a fakeGTS to get yourself the pokemon you want to battle with.

I see people put in so much effort when it comes to RNG or god forbid breeding the legitimate way, and I don't understand why.

All of these. I well admit that i have action replay'd my way through every single DS Pokemon game and i don't feel one but bad about it. I don't make a super hacked Pokemon like a Wondertomb or Wondereye or anything like that. I just use cheats to do the exact same things you can do in the game, just easier and faster.
The only time I've given a Pokemon a different ability was when i gave my Garchomp Rough Skin.

tl;dr cheats are good in moderation.

I'm currently attempting to breed a Shiny Skarmory. Have Shiny Charm, and I'm using Masuda method, I'm on 40 eggs and this is not really fun.

Sure if by some miracle of the Universe I actually manage to hatch a shiny one I'll probably get a good feel. but the process itself is boring as shit

Since nobody has pointed this out: early 3DS games had weak/no encryption on their game saves. A later update re encrypted the saves. There are tons of posts on gbatemp about how their modified saves aren't working.

Really the best way to have a cheat-free online would be having saves be partially or completely stored online. Like in Diablo 2 you have closed battle.net (saves stored on server) and open battle.net (saves stored locally). Since you can edit local saves, cheating is rampart in open (like how pokemon is currently, though we at least have checksums).

The one thing about cheating is the whole aspect of IVs giving cheaters hidden power.
That's literally a single special move that can be any type in the world that you want, that you can now manipulate to be a 70 power attack of your choice every time while non-cheaters absolutely have to absolutely pray to RNG gods for the right hidden power once.

I'm all for it if it's just one or two incredibly important IVs and then raising EVs for like 20 minutes like I used to do as a non-cheater, but with more and more special attackers in the mix and less and less moves being available to them for some reason, some of them are forced to run hidden power, and that's just not feasible legitimately on my end.
