Was anyone else as disappointed as I was with the designs of these three in particular?

I've been a fan of everything I've seen up until I saw these - I hope that they're showcasing their weakest first if anything..

The panda is pretty badass, even for a first stage pokémon. We are finally getting a panda pokémon (fuck spinda) and I'm totally OK with it.

The lizard thing can evolve into something worth training, and the bird... well, it's the normal/flying bird we get every gen. Nothing new here.

While I like the idea of getting a 'real' Panda (lol spinda), I feel that it's potential has been wasted in this design. It does nothing for me.

I like them all. Little fighter panda is cute and awesome. Bird is motherfucking adorable, a lot of people say it's boring, but that's only because it's so simple and streamlined, as far as designs go it doesn't really look like any other bird pokemon. I wish the lizard looked more like a lizard than a puppy, but I'm waiting to see where it goes.

The lizard is my favourite design out of all of them. It looks a little bit like a lizard, but then has quirks that make it unique. I like Pokemon that don't just look like a normal animal.

The bird is the first basic bird I have actually wanted to catch since Swellow. Starly and Pidove were absolutely terrible.

The goat is a nice design, although it would have been interesting to see it have a different type/concept than grass. I feel the plant/tree hybrid thing has been done a lot now.

The panda is okay. It looks like.. a panda. There is nothing very interesting about it me.

Agree.
I know it's kind of the point of the artwork, but I really wish they wouldn't use it for their unveiling. The colours are quite often really off and the quality isn't great.

I'm a fan of traditional art don't get me wrong, but when you're debuting a Pokemon in a magazine spread, first impressions will count massively, but the artwork just doesn't seem fit for purpose.

I find them all pretty appealing, my favorite is the bird, I like how it imitates the exotic coloring a lot of real life birds have.

I know the modus operandi for 4chan is to be a cunt about everything, but honestly this is shaping up for to be one of the best generations yet, maybe even the best. This is the only prelease showcase I've seen where every single pokemon shown so far looks pretty good to great even, surely I can't be the only one to feel that way.

You can't ask much of the sixth pidgey they've had to do. I still hope the evolution brings something new though.
The lizard is disgusting, no argument there. It should at least have been grass-electric.
I facepalmed hard at the idea of a fighting panda. It's like they had to vent all of the unoriginality they had accumulated for not making a fire-fighting started into another pokemon, and this was the result.

HG/SS was a surprising amount of work, true. One that wasn't even continued into the next generation.

Unfortunately, the fact that they specified that Gogoat could be ridden seems to imply that it is a feature unique to Gogoat. In Corocoro, all of them came with a piece of information- the lizard runs on solar power, the robin has a beautiful song, the panda has a trademark leaf in its mouth. Gogoat's info was "Can be ridden in the city." Now think about it, if you could ride any Pokemon, or even a lot of Pokemon, would you make that Gogoat's special info? Why would every other piece of info be a unique feature of that Pokemon, but Gogoat's just a general feature?

Plus, the basically inevitably limited number of Pokemon will probably limit its usefulness. Because think about it, if riding replaced bikes and Gogoat is the only Pokemon who can be ridden, it would make it basically a requirement to have Gogoat. If they make riding a central/necessary/very advantageous feature, it will really centralise the ridable Pokemon. It will probably just be a quirky minigame or something.

Erm. Because there are other pokemon with beautiful songs? I know it's lame, but I'm really hoping I don't have to keep a Gogoat in my party just to be able to ride. I'd want to be able to ride pokemon like Arcanine, etc. It would be really lame if they only let you ride one pokemon-- I mean, what would be the point of adding the feature otherwise?

About the "ridable" thing... I dunno, I still think the running shoes have been changed to roller blades (as seen in the trailer), and in the same manner bikes have been changed to riding Pokemon. I mean, everything is 3D now, there's far less limitations, it'll be far more easier to do than making Pokemon follow you right off the bat in gen 4. It's not sprites anymore, it wouldn't take that much work. I'm guessing they're just trying to make the new Pokemon look more interesting by mentioning the fact you can ride Gogoat.
