I don't think it's happening. Sylveon barely alludes to light and if there really was a light type then why the hell isn't the electric lizard part light?

I only think Fairy type is happening. I also think it works better as a type than light.

Xerneas fits Fairy too. Deers are often heavily associated with fairies and it's seen in a huge ass forest with a weird tree in the background during the trailer. Stereotypical fairies are often live in enchanted forests. Just like how Sylveon lives in one in the anime movie short.

Yeah but it's the focus on the forest is what gets me. Why choose a forest specifically? Why not an open grass land or something? And it's also seen standing in front of an oddly thick tree that I have a feeling will have some significance. The forest Sylveon is in doesn't look like any old forest either. It has rainbows and shit with a bunch of clouds around it and a giant moss covered eevee structure.

People keep trying to think of ways to get rid of it's normal type, but there is pretty much no evidence at all of that happening. It using "light" and converting it into electrical energy is in the stage it is now. If it were to be a light type, it would already have the "justification" to do so. Light isn't happening.

Light is energy in the sense that it is just electromagnetic radiation. Heat is another kind of energy: more precisely, the one that flows in between objects according to to the laws of thermodynamics. Think of a non-incandescent lightbulb that can stay hours on and still be cold.

The fact that the sun can emit light *and* radiate heat does not mean both are the same thing.
