We discussed this already. 3D models are awkward looking and animate poorly most of the time and are limited technologically. Hand drawn art can be as good as you draw it and looks much more pleasing to the eye.
Plus, we haven't seen a whole battle, so calm your retard self down. We may see trainers when they release Pokemon.
