Yes, I'm such a socially inept, ugly failure that I can't even blend in at an anime convention, and as a result I've never been able to make any new friendships no matter how many I've been to. At best it leads to some smalltalk, but then they discretely try to block me out. Feels bad, man.
I tried cosplaying for the first time at Närcon Vinter last february: Barry Burton from Resident Evil. And as luck would have it, it turned out that this was the ONLY convention I've ever been to where nobody else was cosplaying RE, and only two people recognized me. See, this is what happens when I try to make friends.
