I can't figure out which deck I want to use for BRs. My choices are pretty narrow though

Darkrai/Sableye/Lasers
Cobalion/Klinklang
Deoxys/Latias (If I can get the cards before this saturday, but I have another BR next week)

I doubt I will win, but I at least want some odds.

I feel like Klinklang still has a nice place in the metagame. It seems like it would have a positive match up against TDK, in theory at least. Immune to Thundurus and Deoxys, type advantage over Kyurem. The only trouble is how fast Plasma Basics is compared to Klinklang.

It does take awhile compared to the others. But, the benefit is most of the TDK decks I've seen only use Special energies so that's something. If I can get another Cobalion I might end up using that, but I would need to rework the deck since I only built it for fun/with spare cards.

We have something similar to it in Megalo Cannon. The Haxorus that knocks out Plasma Pokemon. Could easily shut down TDK decks and the Snorlax thing.

Most people like Lugia, but I'm finding that I just damage it before it can attack me, then I let it kill something, and then I knock it out. It's not terrible, I've just found the one extra prize it gives isn't worth the investment. Take Kyurem. It does the same amount of damage for much less large of an investment, both in the deck and during the game. It's easier to set up and gives one less prize when it goes down, in exchange for taking on prize less than Lugia. Lugia is also restricted to being horribly energy inefficient, needing a Plasma and realistically a DCE too.

Without Lugia you can play Max Potion for mirror and Darkrai and you can play a more streamlined energy line.

wait, you actually think people can reliably use lugia the turn they put it down? Sure, Scramble Switch, but what other than Kyurem has 2 or more energy on it in Plasma. If Kyurem does, you probably are going to want to be attacking with it.

So, you play 2 Lugia, DCE, and Scramble just to hope you can use them to get a Lugia out in one turn. Sure this can probably happen. But it needs to happen on the turn you want it to or it is just ineffective. Assuming you can do it when you want is poor planning and an unreliable strategy. It's hard to deny that Lugia is situational anyway, so let's lower the odds of having access to it when you need it by NOT playing it down.

Not even mentioning that Enhanced Hammer is a card that can easily screw you over as you build energy on the field.

Yes. That was a given.

You still need 2 in one turn, plus a DCE attachment, and Lugia. Doable, but exactly when you need it? Even harder. Scramble is there, but you don't usually have a lot of energy on individual Pokemon. Kyurem is not going to usually live through an attack either if the opponent has any good deck or board presence either.

Super rod and tool scrapper are both much better use of space in that deck than laserbank. In worst case your virbank clunks up your hand during magnetic draw or you help your opponent ohko with raiden knuckle or frost spear.

Perhaps, but running Keldeo EX also has it own demerits as you remembered in >>12333250. I guess you could drop a Super Rod for it. And now with Float Stone, running multiple Tool Scrappers might be required since you can't just go "LOL Catcher out your Garbodor and stall" anymore as any BigBasics/Garbodor players will probably play 4 of those to reduce the chance of not being able to do anything because their opponents Catcher up something with heavy retreat costs and can't retreat/attack/etc.

To be honest, it's good enough. With IRL shuffling you tend to run into issues like clumping and, in more spurious cases, card stacking.

Remember that a program can NEVER recreate true randomness, hence why they use an pseudorandom number generator at an attempt to simulate it.

You're right on gems being trialed in Canada, but from what I've read their model seems flawed. You buy gems in bundles and then spend them. For example, decks cost 300 gems and boosters 100. The flaw in this is that after buying the biggest and most cost effective gem bundle, one is still spending ~$3.80 Canadian. Why would any level headed human being pay that when you can buy a physical pack for roughly the same amount AND get an online booster, too!

Make of it what you will, but I feel it to be pretty crappy. Lucky we've got eBay and other 3rd party sellers, right?

So basically, just under the price of an actual pack. Yeah, I can see why the players were miffed, unless a deck or pack this was came with some sort of small bonus (maybe a few gems, etc) there's no major difference to want to buy online with.

Only if you play too few copies of important cards. While it is theoretically possible for all 4 copies to end up in prizes, the odds are so low it doesn't justify changing the game rules.

I never really got the appeal for absol. I guess against TDK decks it could be handy. Two energies for potentially 120 damage. idk. I feel like setting up Darkrai with Dark Claw would be better. 110 + 30 to a benched pokemon.

Also, my PlasmaKlang deck has Plasma Frigates (lel) so I manage to survive enough. It works for me, then again the deck itself was only built for fun but it's managed to beat a few people with luck. I don't necessarily care for winning, just playing for fun.

I've not run Absol before. My list is very similar except I run Bouffalant and mewtwo ex. Is Absol noticably faster? I generally set up for a t2/t3 spear and the game is pretty much set from there...

It's an easier to guarantee T1/T2 attack. It helps against decks that like to have full benches like Blastoise, Plasma Basics, and is probably a good check against Klinklang decks.

I'd say Absol is better in the aspect that ...

1) You can use Dark Patch and Dark Claw with it
2) Dealing up to 170 damage against a full bench with HTL, Virbank, and Dark Claw
3) Powering it up is easier and faster

IIRC, in total we get around 180 CP if you come first in every event available here. I could be way off though but I know we're no where near being able to compete on points alone unless we fly to the mainland for tourneys.

I don't know if I should use Kyurem NVI on my Keldeo/Blastoise deck for tomorrows BRs

It helps me to do spread damage to finish with Keldeo if I lose my Black Kyurem EX's, or KO benched eels
But the primary reason is to have another non-EX attacker other than Blastoise for PlasmaKlang and Sigilyph... and Kyurem NVI is weak to steel...
I dunno what to do, here's my current pokemon list:

- 4-0-3 Blastoise
- 2 Black Kyurem EX
- 2 Keldeo EX
- 2 Emolga drx

I think it's because of Silver Mirror. Sure Tool Scrapper is still out there, but most only run one anyways. It gives the player enough time to do some damage before they can get rid of it.

Keep in mind that they have already played 2 more Battle Carnivals before this one so the metagame was already known before the tournament. They could have countered Silver Mirror if they wanted too, it actually helped a deck win last week so they should expect it. They might have chosen to "counter" it by not playing TDK altogether though, which would explain why there are only two Deoxys EX decks in the top 16. Unfortunately I can't read enough moonrunes to find what was heavily played and what wasn't in the Battle Carnivals, I'm just assuming.

Yep, that's it. Derail only discards special energy though. Quite a good counter for TDK since it only plays special energy anyway while having a bench full of Plasma Pokémon.

I would change one N for another team plasma ball dude. 3 Ns is good enough, you don't want to be doing N for three or two cards.
Also, two float stones is more than enough, I would change that one for a tool scrapper.
Three biancas also is a lot, try using Colress instead it's better to draw a fresh six cards hand than to draw just 2-3 cards.

But overall good deck, you'll have to change the hypno/virbank strategy for Plasma Blast tho, maybe adding the Lugia Donk

Why the fuck does that card exist. They made another Safeguard Pokémon and that plasma immunity tool, and then make a card that makes both of them fucking useless. Unless we get some kind of direct counter against Genesect like Heatmor is against Durant, that thing is going to be raping everything, especially its worst 'counters'.

We don't know. My guess is Dark Explorers and below will get rotated out, leaving us with Dragons Exalted-on. TCPi isn't predictable like that though. For all we know, they might not rotate anything out and keep it BW-on until there are more Gen VI sets out. Considering the format is EX heavy, I can see that as a likely option. We really don't know.

If it is, then it might be because X&Y is comming.

Think of it, X&Y videogames are comming worldwide on october, but tcg isn't worldwide, and japan's Megalo Cannon came out in March, so a new expansion on October isn't that crazy, having in mind there's a sub-set of mostly reprints (EX Battle Boost) in between them

Sets rotate right after Worlds, which is in August. And of course XY sets are coming out in October. Japan's next set is filled with primarily reprints so it's likely we'll get it as a mini-set like Dragon Vault. Game Freak and Nintendo stated their goal for X and Y was international releases, I'm sure that will include the TCG as well, since that's something players have been demanding for for awhile now.

shit, I meant around October. I actually don't know how they're going to handle releases. Like, if it'll go by Japan releases or by US releases. I have a feeling if the TCG was to get international releases, then they would go by Japan's release schedule. If so, the next set to be released is in September for Japan, but it's a month before the game's release so it'll probably get pushed back or something. Who knows! Anything is possible with TCPi, but one thing is for sure, don't get your hopes up for something we want.

I used to play MtG so I'm used to tcgs, I started with the theme deck Ice Shock, were I got the Blastoise, got involved on a League and grew fast.
I entered with Keldeo/Blastoise/Black Kyurem, but I pulled a Deoxys EX and Kyurem on my prize packs, so I'm tempted to build TDK lol

I'll be attentive to the Worlds Tourny then, I don't want to come with any ideas for a deck that might rotate soon lol

But yeah, since you're fairly new just focus on building cards with newer sets and stick with that deck until it gets rotated while updating it with newer cards that would help. Unless you have a lot of money and like building multiple decks.
