I just made the mistake of going on Gamestrailers comment page for the trailer.

Full of people saying gen one only and they want a game with all regions and gen one Pokemon and they won't get this game because it isn't like Pokemon anymore, while crying Pokemon hasn't changed.

And that's fine, because other than some scenery porn in BW series, Pokémon was never about them.

Anyone who brings graphics to the discussion is an idiot and probably wants a Pokemon game with Skyrim graphics and realistic Pokemon

Graphics look fine and appealing, so for me XY looks good. Besides those cel-shaded battles will look goodin 10 years, jst like Wind Maker looks good today. On the other hand wahtever CoD was released this year, wil look like shit in 2016

People just like to complain whenever there's change. And of course, the nitpicking indicates most want X and Y to not be half-assed but to be Gamefreak's finest.

Honestly, this game looks a lot like what I imagined a 3D Pokémon game to be. I remember as a kid seeing Stadium in stores and thinking it would play just like the gameboy ones. And I'll admit I was disappointed when I finally got it and that turned out not to be the case. Still a fun game though.

I mean, they've definitely improved it, but I'd still only say it's about average for a game with a fairly static overworld.

It's just that Nintendo titles usually have some of the best graphics on their hardware, and I was really hoping for something comparable to SM3DL, Luigi's Mansion or RE:Revelations.

To be honest, I like the visuals of the battles more then the looks in any of those games, except maybe Luigi's Mansion. Also, I don't think any of those games are as free roaming and large as Pokemon usually is.

You see, people want the very core essence of the franchise to change, BUT they don't want the graphics and other fluff to change.

And then there are the GEEWUNners who think that there should only be one of everything so that their precious childhood remains as it forever and ever, totally stagnant. Then there's the autists who are thrown into gibbering tizzies at everything that's not the same. And also the nostalgiafags who won't get their faces out of the ass of the past and cry dipshit tears over things not being how they were when they were kids.

In short, Pokemon's fandom is exactly the same as Sonic's fandom, and they should all be ignored and the games enjoyed for what they are.

It's not from a game. It just a thing a video game environment artist made during his lunchbreak.
The guy is called Christian Davis and have worked on a few video game. He did that blastoise 3D modelisation/rendition in a few week during the spare time of his lunch break with a few 3D tool.

Now this may just be my opinion, but I feel that X/Y already does that pretty well, especially with the cell shading they use in it. Obviously not super smooth or whatever, but the 3DS always has jaggies and what not that aren't really noticeable at all when you play the game/see it in motion.

td;dr It's not perfect, but I really like it and probably would prefer it to most other proposed styles.

Because they asked what everyone's favorite Zones were from the main series so they could put them into the 20th anniversary game, along with a ton of other nods and homages and references to the entire franchise. THAT is how you listen to the fans.

The one time before that Sega listened to the fans, they made "Shadow the Hedgehog". They certainly learned their lesson by the time of Generations.

Who cares except for graphics whores. The gameplay will always trump the graphics, and they should. It's not like a movie where you're sitting and watching, it's an interactive media and that interaction is the important part. Graphics come second.

Everything was good/decent/enjoyable except the gameplay. Holy shit how could they have dropped the ball so badly? I was expecting a simple fast paced action game with crazy combat, not... -that- crap we got.

is it me or the battles look better but they are not as fluid as in the first trailer

for example, when froakie is using his water atteck, there is a noticiable slowdown in the animation.
