>>12330862We may also see more use of ground types to deal with steel types, but that would just mean Skarmory would be used a lot more, so ground types wouldn't become too much more useful. This may actually be what could make fire types more useful, as a way of dealing with the increase in Steel types. (Sorry Charizard fans, but he won't be one of the fire types to become more useful, since more Skarmory use means ground types won't become too much more useful, though the lack of an increase in ground types does mean other fire types might become more useful, but even then, there'll be loads of bulky water types to deal with that) We may even see a very slight decrease in use of Stealth Rock and Stone Edge due to the sheer number of steel types, but since people still will only run one steel type it will be a very small decrease, and it could only slightly help fire types. Still, that being said it is highly likely that Stealth Rock and Stone Edge will still appear on practically every team, so it won't make much of a difference for Fire types. Had Fairy types been resistant or immune to rock, things might have been different.
Keep in mind, especially with fire types, that even if any type does see more use, it will be the Pokemon of that type that are already used, not the ones that are never used. Except for maybe some Fire/Fighting types like Blaziken, because of the Fighting type's weakness against Fairy. If any fire type sees more use, I'd say it would be Heatran, but an increase in use of Earthquake and Earth Power could counteract that.
One more thing- we still have to take into consideration what Pokemon become Fairy Types, and what secondary types they might have. I mean, who knows, we could end up with a new type and very few useful new Pokemon of that type.
