This. Pretty much every generation has some fans as well as some butthurt people that insist on hating certain gens. My personal favourite is Heart Gold/Soul Silver, but others hate it.

Because the average /vp/ user is 12, there are many genwars and people can't accept that each gen had their own flaws and merits. The sad thing is that I'm not even exaggerating.

It just felt like the most well-made Pokemon game to me. The region was colourful, the sprites were well done, Pokemon following you enhanced the experience and I guess a bit of nostalgia has influenced my decision.

If you enjoyed gen 2, I'd recommend HG/SS as it improves most of the original games' flaws without removing that feel of nostalgia completely.

weakest game in the series, imo, but I enjoyed my first play-through for the most part and really liked the soundtrack. It picks up a lot as you progress through the later parts of the game

all great games, there is no such thing as a bad choice, really.

Note how I said "most". And the Pokegear wasn't that bad, especially since you had the option to ignore it in the remakes. And Johto was no worse that Unova when it comes to the region itself. The only truly diverse regions were Hoenn and Sinnoh.

Unova has far more content and variety than Johto which is just Kanto 1.5. Does Johto have a volcano? Spooky Place? A marine tube? They should've added the VS seeker on HG/SS.

BW2 improved greatly upon Unova, but the original BW had a really bland map. Atleast the remakes put places like Viridian Forest and Cerulean Cave back into the game. And don't forget that it had Kanto as post-game.

And what seems to be the big deal here? When people mention cool tings from Gen 3 for example, Battle Frontier is always there most of the time, despite being Emerald only.

When comparing gens, usually the base for comparison is always when the set of games is at his ebst (remakes or 3rd version).

Except of course Anti-Gen 4 fags that want people to forget Platinum exists, and keep shouting "hurr so slow I don't have time to play Pokémon, took me 200 hours to reach E4 I'm not exagerrating guise"

To be honest, Emerald was just an improved version and has rendered Ruby and Sapphire obsolete. BW2 were sequels to BW with completely different protagonists. So they can be talk about as different games (similar to how GSC and RBY are considered different games).

Although this is starting to turn into a genwar, so I too will sage.
