I think it's more like the map illustrates points of interest within each city. Also, the main city (whatever the fuck they're calling it now) looks goddamned enormous in the trailers.

In Unova's map, random buildings were entire cities. For example, a couple of windmills=Icirrus City.

But the Sinnoh (and the other maps before Sinnoh) are more true to the games, both the Unova map and the Kalos one have bad perspective, they look like they were draw by little kids with crayons and it lacks so much detail.
Just look at the city, it looks so amateur and the harbor area's perspective is so wrong it makes me question if this was even made by GF.

My other theory was the castle near the snow shit is the E4, and West Kalos is mostly postgame.
I think it's too big to all be explored in one go, the postgame is either east or west.

What I don't get is why do the maps have to look so shitty? Like, I'm okay with an areal view of the whole region and it could cleverly disguise some locations NOT REMOVE ENTIRE BUILDINGS.
We shouldn't have to speculate that a freaking leaf is actually a tree.

I don't know. I know what you mean about them being creepy though. You don't really notice how weird it is in the other games, but since this is 3D, it's a lot more obvious. It'd be cooler if they were doing stuff, like bug catchers swiping the air with nets, or other characters rummaging through their bags or something.

The style is worse. Its bland, empty and looks like a childs drawing. The cities look like single statues dotted around the map, and the colors are oversaturated and unseemly. And don't get me started on the rivers, they're all uniform thickness and section off the entire map. It looks awful.
